I LOVE how #Bangalore now has so many places from where you can order THICC & CHONCC-y sandwiches πŸ₯ͺ from!

Grab a bib, cuz here are 5 sandwiches you just gotta try: πŸ‘‡πŸΎ
1/ The Food Lover Company

πŸ₯ͺ All sandwiches are fundraisers for the Coorg Wellness Foundation, an org set up for ppl + wildlife
πŸ₯ͺ No set menu, as veggies are sourced daily from farmers
πŸ₯ͺ Super eclectic fillings, like 🍏, which 🀯

Order in advance from: instagram.com/the_food_lover…
2/ Candice's Gourmet Sandwiches

πŸ₯ͺ Founded by Candice Lock, the same person who gave us Chinita!
πŸ₯ͺ New York style sandwiches influenced by her Cantonese roots and by living in NY
πŸ₯ͺ Trained frequently at the Institute of Culinary Education, NY

Order: candicesgourmet.com
3/ Brik Oven Deli

πŸ₯ͺ Brik Oven pizza really needs no introduction, but have you tried their breakfast (read: brunch) sandwiches?
πŸ₯ͺ They make their own bread and mozerella
πŸ₯ͺ They have a bagel sandwich on their menu too!

Order here: orders.brikoven.com/brikoven
4/ Local Ferment Co

πŸ₯ͺ So goddamn good that they have a 100% money back guarantee 😳
πŸ₯ͺ Each sandwich come with a bottle of their signature ginger beer
πŸ₯ͺ Chk out their bagel sandwiches+ Sunday Randoms!

Order here: localfermentco.in or slide into @localfermentco's DMs
5/ Paris Panini

πŸ₯ͺ Nicholas, the French founder, wanted to bring French street food to India. So he set up a food truck called Le Casse-Croute
πŸ₯ͺ Due to red tape that came with running a food πŸš›, he partnered the folks behind Pizza Bakery & launched a brick & mortar store in BLR
Wrote this thread to celebrate both:

πŸ₯ͺ The cosmopolitan nature of #Bangalore and
πŸ₯ͺ The incredible level of craftsmanship that goes into each of these sandwiches

Truly lucky to be in #Blore right now!

Bookmark this 🧡 for the next time you can't decide where to order from! :)
Honorary mention:

The amount of thought that went into Fatty Bao BLR's new bao dogs made me go bao-wow 🀭

LOVE the packaging! And that they experimented with Korean flavours for one of the "sandwiches".

The sausage went really well with the soft & sweet bao.

Last day today ☹️
Also, all photos in this thread have been taken from each brand's social media profiles.

Due credit lies with their extremely talented food stylists/photographers.

1/ Wow, sobriety is really picking up in B’lore, huh?

Went to Practically Sobar, India’s first sober cocktail bar today.

πŸ“Œ It’s nestled in the lush premises of Green Theory, Convent Road (close-ish to Cubbon Park) Image
Image
2/ Vibes were πŸ’―

Lush green, tropical vibes, intertwined with twinkling fairy lights.

Calming ambient music & sound levels at just the right level - where you can actually hear the other person speak.

Immediately felt like I was transported to a paradise in Northern Thailand. Image

3/ Now coming to their drinks -

Tried one of their sober cocktails - but ummm…

Let’s just say I personally still like my cocktails Old Fashioned (pun intended).

But maybe that’s just me.

Have you tried this place or any zero-proof cocktails?

Are you embracing sobriety?

1/ The next time you go to Mysore - make sure you visit this BEAUTIFUL bean-to-bar chocolate factory!🍫

Naviluna is in a 120 year old heritage house, 4 mins from the Mysore Palace.

The founder, David Belo, was born in Cape Town & (cont.) Image
2/ Restored this bungalow with help from INTACH & crowdfunding through Kickstarter

They used traditional techniques like crushing oyster shells for the lime plaster

I ❀️ how they kept the:

- exposed wiring
- old switchboards &
- stained glass windows

of this heritage home! Image
3/ I also love they've incorporated the Kannada akshara ನ (n) in the tiles & signage for Naviluna.

The word Naviluna comes from the Kannada word for peacock, navilu 🦚

While luna means moon🌜

So nice to see Kannada elements weaved in design! 🫢

1/ Dil Se is a dark film which deals with a lot of moral greyness

Against this backdrop, we have the colourful song Satrangi Re.

While the song drops at exactly the 1 hour mark..

The 7 min song song sums up SRK's slow descent into madness & foreshadows the ending

⚠️Spoilers⚠️ Image
2/ In the book "Conversations with Mani Ratnam" Mani Ratnam told @baradwajrangan that

He gave @arrahman a very specific brief to compose a song abt the 7 stages of love

While stumped at first, the Mozart of Madras composed the banger song.. in 1 hour 🀯

3/ Arabic has 14 stages. But Mani Ratnam condensed them to 7 for this song:
❀️ Hub (attraction)
🧑 Uns (infatuation)
πŸ’› Ishq (love)
πŸ’š Akidat (trust/reverence)
πŸ’™ Ibadat (worship)
πŸ’œ Junoon (madness)
πŸ–€ Maut (death)

SRK addresses his muse Manisha as Satrangi (the seven-hued one) Image

1/ Was waiting for my auto when I saw this funky AF signboard outside a dive bar.

LOVE how the J in the neon sign starts with a trumpet 🎺

Intrigued I walked in for a quick look.

πŸ“ Koramangala Image
2/ The walls had old vinyl records
and peeling posters.

While worn-out, the place oozed character & retro vibes.

I asked the manager if they had a functioning jukebox, he said they have a smol one that plays CDs πŸ“€

Here's what it kinda looks like πŸ‘‡ Image
3/ The coolest thing there was this old poster that displayed all the IT companies in B'lore.

Guess this is what @peakbengaluru looked like back then!

Can you spot any unicorn from today there? πŸ¦„ Image

1/ Many ppl see Dil Se & feel repulsed at SRK's stalking + sexual assault

Ppl write it off - saying it aged badly. Bollywood glorified stalking then.

How could SRK - Bollywood's blue-eyed boy - be such a creep?

What if I told you.. we aren't supposed to like SRK in Dil Se? πŸ‘€ Still from Dil Se. Since ...
2/ In Dil Se - while SRK is charismatic - he is a creep on purpose.

While SRK has carved a niche for himself being a lover boy, he is no stranger to being the antagonist.

There are several times in his early films that he played the role of the psycho lover. Ex: Darr, Bazigaar. ImageImageImage
3/ Dil Se is part of Mani Ratnam's terror trilogy.

Roja was abt Kashmir
Bombay about Babri Masjid
Dil Se about the NE insurgency

In his films, the personal is political.
The films are a political allegory.

The protagonists are pawns to illustrate the larger power play. ImageImageImage

1/ These big AF matchboxes from @MAPBangalore's gift store are LIT AF πŸ”₯

I LOVE them!

Not only do you get art that you can prop up..

But you also get long AF matchsticks (perf for those hard to reach 3-wick candles!)

At Rs 250, it's perf for a gift 🎁 Image
2/ Loved this matchbox with a rendition of Mohini on a Swing by Raja Ravi Verma.

I love how it's cheekily called "Temptress" here

They really should do a collab with @Tinder_India 🀝

It'll be.. a match πŸ”₯ Image
3/ I love how @MAPBangalore has recognised the role of matchbox art in shaping India's art scene.

Its so interesting to trace how India evolved from the PoV of its matchbox art.
