Day 62. Two months ago, American journalist, my brother, Danny Fenster was minutes from boarding a flight at Yangon International Airport. He was coming home to visit us, his family, for the first time in over three years. He never boarded that flight and (ctd)
that family reunion never happened. He was taken in for questioning and sent to the infamous #InseinPrison , a place known for its brutal inhumanity and dreadful living conditions. Day 62 and there are still no charges. His only crime is that he is a journalist. (ctd)
For anyone new to this story what I can tell you about my brother, #DannyFenster, is that he is an objective truth-teller. He is someone who feels and acts within a moral compass to honor the customs, laws, and history of wherever he finds himself. (ctd)
History and context are so essential to who he is. He takes the straight and narrow when he needs to, but what he's interested in are those things to the left and the right, no matter how ghastly, which many of us don’t give much thought. He's a journalist. (ctd)
He's our eyes and ears to the world and a small part of what makes this world a more enlightened and connected place to be. He continues to have a profound effect on his community and his country. (ctd)
I think Danny's story should matter to everyone, not only in America, but worldwide. If you care about your freedoms; freedom of speech, of religion, of assembly, of expression, of the press....this story should matter to you. Journalism is not a crime. #BringDannyHome
