EDA AND HER CURSE:
a half-baked theory by me!

🦉 this is in no way canon (unless it is), it is purely speculation‼️

alright. so let’s begin with my main statements:

1) i believe that the curse will either completely transform eda, trapping her in her mindscape until someone snaps her out of it

OR

2) eda will find a way to separate the owl curse from herself, but she’ll still be magicless

first, let’s take a look at these images. note how eda’s orange hair = orange feathers, eda’s grey hair = grey feathers. easy enough to follow so far, and basic logic. the curse will change to fit her current likeness.

next we had this scene from keeping up a-fear-rances, where the curse owl in her mindscape, is, in fact, grey. makes sense, her hair isn’t orange here. the owl from her younger self’s mindscape is too dark to see the colours of, unfortunately, though it should be orange.

SO WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?

(it’s the cover image from knock knock knockin’ on hooty’s door.)

here we can see that eda’s hair has returned back to orange (i believe she dyed it back either during a breakdown, or to restore a sense of normalcy and reminder to back when raine was okay) and therefore, the owl is orange as well. this mindscape looks far more complicated—

which leads me to believe it is not the same mindscape as the previous times. it’s the “memory” part of her head, just like how willow had that forest area. but why is eda in this part of her head?

i need to lie down for several minutes.

so eda becomes so overcome with grief (and stress! remember stress triggers the curse faster) when remembering what happened to raine. she enters her mindscape, reminisces over her memories with raine, and faces off the curse in there. she feels guilty, thinking her curse is the

reason for all of this- that if she still had her magic she could’ve spared their fate. the owl beast grows stronger as eda weakens, and…

eda is now like this on the outside.

so, to recap, there are two possibilities for the aftermath:

1) the owl house family snaps her out of this mindscape- think kipo and her mega jaguar transformation- but she still has the curse

2) eda fights back against the curse and successfully separates the owl from herself!

hopefully this made some sense?? i will be honest my brain is fried after eda’s requiem so this could mean nothing at all. thanks for reading!! feel free to add your own thoughts as well <3
