San Juan Puerto Rico cops went into a gay bar last night dressed like soldiers in a war zone. The mayors spokeswoman says the mayor thinks the show of force was a bit much. Critics call it an intimidation tactic. The mayor says cops were enforcing a permit.

The mayor’s spokeswoman released this statement:

The spokeswoman says the mayor spoke with the police superintendent about the show of force and she indicated that the mayor thought the show of force was somewhat excessive. The spokeswoman claims that the establishment was operating without a liquor license.
