2/ Trump won by arbitraging the landed gentry of US.
a wind of his kind is not merely one-time; he showed a path that people are willing to follow. also sowed a lot of messages that simply did not exist in popular consciousness on the neutral/not-far-left side.
need a repeat.
3/ "the landed gentry?"
historically in UK they were known as "lord of this, lord of that".
currently in US they are known as "editor of this, editor of that". (there is some more but that's besides the point rn).
4/ the US "landed gentry" manages the country not really by "aye or nay", but rather by tending to the Overton Window.
Trump promised them easy talking points (big respite from the encroaching social media) and so they took the bargain like a major debt.
5/ "this is far fetched esoterica"
the 2016 election was decided on voter attention.
the 2020 election was *almost* decided on voter attention, except that was turned around and it was decided on voter *inattention* in the night.
6/ the "1776 2.0", hopefully much sooner than 2776, is about information-space.
the "landed gentry of editors" has two natural enemies: "every man king of his castle" (of his blog and his newsfeed), and "industrialists" (owners of foras) .
7/ forums are the right model: community local moderators, rather than platform moderators.
*tribal* communities.
8/ the other key part how Trump won: large family & long-term business associates, with connections everywhere.
he was able to put trustworthy people in key places.
there's a lesson in that - and in how the system defends itself from people doing just that.

The short & incomplete list of alliances forged by feminists:

- entertainment: promise of doubling audience for the same product
- political parties: promise of votes easily managed by media

1/ Kneon describes the entryist leftist bait-and-switch: 1. "be open for everyone" 2. "cater to this specific group" 3. "ban those who don't cater to this specific group"
