I went back to reevaluate Shakky & Rayleighs relationship & it was more complex than I thought. They're not "married" (conflicting evidence but more clear they're not) but they do live together. It seems like Shakky's happy enough being with him even if not romantically 🧵
it made me think more about their characters & pirates in general, and realised it's actually relatively unusual for pirates to get "married" and settle in the first place, which makes sense. This includes Shakky as she herself doesn't want to commit (even to Ray)
But it's safe to assume Shakky lives with him because she loves him in a way befitting a pirate, and it made me really think about Hancock & Luffy. For a long time I was puzzled how Oda would resolve the romance which WAS just a gag, but is now a serious part of the narrative
I was confused ever since Oda gave Kid the Road Poneglyph rubbings from Big Mom and Kaido. I thought "what's the point? He doesn't have the Zou Poneglyph unlike Luffy and Law and you NEED all 4 otherwise the rubbings are useless. He will never reach Laughtale with them".
THIS IS WHERE THE BURN MARKS MAN COMES IN (let's call him Saul). Oda introduced an ALTERNATIVE way to get to Laughtale through Saul. I say alternative because YOU DON'T NEED THE PONEGLYPHS FOR SAUL'S METHOD!
For the record, Law/Kid did NOT say they can only use their awakenings ONCE only. This is simply a mistranslation by Viz. In Japanese, Law says he's awakened but he's not used to using it in BATTLES. He says 体力の消耗が尋常じゃなく戦闘の命取りになる which translates to:
戦闘の (in battle/in a fight) 命取りになる (it could be fatal/it could cost you your life i.e. It is highly risky.)
To sum it up, they CAN use Awakening, but Oda
was simply giving an explanation to why they haven't used it before in battles (like vs Doffy). Because if they are alone, it'd drain their Stamina so quickly that if it doesn't finish the enemy off, it would cost them the fight (Similar to Gear 4 who had the same issue & without
