I went through 2 years of ups and downs

Now I'm sharing it with you.

6 things I wish I knew
When I was starting freelancing

/*-- THREAD --*/ Image
1. Forget about freelancing platforms

The most obvious step for beginners:
Use Upwork or Fiverr

Please, avoid them

Commissions are high
The clients are inadequate
The terms of service want you to fail

Be sovereign
Start networking
Use the power of social media
2. "React developer" is not a niche

It is in a sense
If you want to get a job

If you want to do websites
The niche for you is a group of people
Who'll get an immense amount of value out of your services

The choice is not obvious
Think carefully
3. 12hrs of work is a trap

It's tempting to think:
You can do more by dedicating more time

Never works.

I know we all have:

Deadlines
Extra work
Passion projects

You spend all of your time on it.

Result? The burnout.
But there's a way to avoid it
You can do more AND work less if:

You have a plan
You prioritize your tasks
You have a clear and focused mind

4. Writing is a must-have skill

Writing is a window
Between you and the world

I've been passionate about writing since I was 10
But only now I'm starting to take it seriously

It helps to land clients
It connects you with people
It makes your dreams come true

Learn writing
5. Sales is about helping

Do you think sales are boring and unethical?
The truth is: they are not

If you want to

Freelance
Write an ebook
Create a game-changing course

AND make an impact on people's lives

Sales are the bridge between your knowledge and people's problems
6. Trials and errors are not enough

The good thing:
They're good teachers

The bad thing:
They don't help you recognize misconceptions

Your limiting beliefs are what draws you back
To make a huge mindset shift

You need to stay accountable
You need to know when things go wrong
You need someone to push you in the right direction

You absolutely need help from outside

How I went from coding newbie to a Freelance Web Developer:
Web Design is the Secret Sauce

10 lessons I learned

/*-- THREAD --*/ Image
1. There isn't much to learn

You don't need to be a hirable UI/UX designer
You need to understand the basics of web pages' structure.

Learn as you grow.
Practice is the best teacher.
2. Web Design makes you stand out

Without learning Figma
Without courses on UI/UX

I won my first freelance gig,
I have been putting food on the table for 12 months.

All that because, being a frontend developer, I have an eye on design.
