After leading the charge in Canada to cast off the restrictions of COVID-19, Alberta says it is moving to lift more public health measures.

The province’s chief medical officer of health on Wednesday said come Aug. 16, masks will no longer be required in taxis or on transit in Alberta.

Alberta lags behind most other provinces in Canada when it comes to first doses administered, with only 63 per cent of the total population having received a dose as of July 17. thestar.com/news/canada/20…
During the period from July 19 to July 25, Alberta had an R-value of 1.48, meaning that infections will continue to increase.

The province is currently dealing with 1,173 active cases and has 82 people in hospital. thestar.com/news/canada/20…

For 29 years, Juan Mendoza de la Cruz came to Canada every spring to work 8 months and take his earnings back to family in Mexico.

A week after Mendoza arrived in Ontario, he learned there was a COVID-19 outbreak on his farm.

Emir Dag worked very hard to learn English and adjust to Canadian culture. He caught on quickly and was soon excelling in all areas of study at Burnhamthorpe Collegiate Institute.

NEW: Pfizer claims that third vaccine dose helps protect against Delta stir debate over need for boosters.

According to a presentation of the drug giant’s second-quarter earnings posted online, antibodies that targeted Delta were as much as five times higher in people age 18 to 55 after a third dose of the vaccine, and potentially even higher in older adults.

A full study has not been published and the research hasn’t been peer reviewed, or vetted by other scientists.
