African wild dogs hunt a variety of medium-sized prey and are often blamed by farmers for killing livestock, leading the farmers to poison and shoot the animals.
Estimates place the wild dog population at approx 6,600 animals, the majority of which reside in southern Africa and the southern part of East Africa.
