I’ve request the reason for the rebooking within 3 hours of my flight. The airline cannot confirm if the flight is indeed cancelled and if it is what the reason is. @WestJet#westjet
I’ve asked about compensation in line with Canada’s new air passenger bill of rights. They’ve declined. Suggesting reasons outside airline control then sent me a link to their webpage blaming covid for schedule issues. #westjet
I spoke to @AirPassRightsCA who explained lack of crew is something within the airlines control and this will qualifies under the federal air passenger bill of rights for compensation. #westjet
Question? Does @WestJet owe $1000 or $2000 in compensation? They cancelled last nights flight for the original 12 hour delay, and then cancelled this mornings flight causing another 9 hour delay. So is that two claims or one? @AirPassRightsCA ?
#APPR claim @WestJet denied “Based on the details of your itinerary, we are unable to approve your claim for compensation as your flight was impacted due to flight crew availability and was required for safety purposes.”
The @WestJet staff at the airport told me the flights were cancelled and/or delayed because they had insufficient crew. One checkin agent said there were not enough staff recalled for the summer travel season. @AirPassRightsCA thoughts? #WestJet
A 2nd email for our first 9 hour delay approved compensation “as your flight was impacted due to flight crew member availability and within WestJet’s control.” However they did not offer the correct amount of compensation for a 9+ hour delay @AirPassRightsCA#WestJet
Neither emails referred to the flights in question, nor explained the difference in staffing issues, and there’s no contact info. Just standard boiler plate. #westjet@AirPassRightsCA
