Loooooong thread...
1. IVM and HCQ when you look at the mechanism of action and where they act in the pathway of viral infection, it is logical and scientific to try their use. However, the key issue comes to the clinical trials.
2. To make claims on efficacy of a drug, there is a standard level of evidence which has to come through carefully designed and rigorous trials so that the level of evidence is not doubted or questioned. I will put down some of the summaries from the main studies below
3. Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in Cali, Colombia (n = 476) IVM (n = 200) and placebo (n = 198) in primary analysis. Key limitation small sample size, primary endpoint modified, sample size composition, only 4 hospitalized patients out of 398,high IVM dose Image
4. Ivermectin Versus Ivermectin Plus Doxycycline Versus Placebo for Treatment of COVID-19
Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of hospitalized adults in Dhaka, Bangladesh (n = 72)
Key limitations highlighted in the screenshot below Image
5. Effectiveness and Safety of Adding Ivermectin to Treatment in Patients With Severe COVID-19
Randomized, single-blind trial of hospitalized adults in Turkey (n = 66) Image
6. Chloroquine, Hydroxychloroquine, or Ivermectin in Patients With Severe COVID-19.
Randomized, double-blind, Phase 2 trial of hospitalized adults in Brazil (n = 168) Image
7. Ivermectin Versus Placebo for Outpatients With Mild COVID-19.
Open-label RCT of adult outpatients in Lahore, Pakistan (n = 50) Image
8. Ivermectin in Patients With Mild to Moderate COVID-19. Open-label, single-center, RCT of outpatients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection in Bangladesh (n = 62) Image
9. Ivermectin Plus Doxycycline Versus Hydroxychloroquine Plus Azithromycin for Asymptomatic Patients and Patients With Mild to Moderate COVID-19.
RCT of outpatients with SARS-CoV-2 infection with or without symptoms in Bangladesh (n = 116)
This is a preliminary report no peer rev Image
10. Antiviral Effect of High-Dose Ivermectin in Adults with COVID-19. Multicenter, randomized, open-label, blinded trial of hospitalized adults with mild to moderate COVID-19 in Argentina (n = 45). Image
11. Effect of Early Treatment With Ivermectin Versus Placebo on Viral Load, Symptoms, and Humoral Response in Patients With Mild COVID-19. A single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial in Spain (n = 24) Image
12. Ivermectin Plus Doxycycline Plus Standard Therapy Versus Standard Therapy Alone in Patients With Mild to Moderate COVID-19. Randomized, unblinded, single-center study of patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection in Baghdad, Iran (n = 140) *not published yet. Image
13. Ivermectin in Patients With Mild to Moderate COVID-19. Double-blind RCT in patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 in India (n = 157) Image
14. Efficacy and Safety of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine in Patients With Severe COVID-19.
Randomized, double-blind trial of hospitalized adults with COVID-19 pneumonia in Mexico (n = 106) *not yet peer reviewed. Image
15. Ivermectin as Adjunctive Therapy to Hospitalized Patients With COVID-19. Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter, Phase 2 clinical trial of hospitalized adults with mild to severe SARS-CoV-2 infection in 5 facilities in Iran (n = 180) *not yet peer reviewed. Image
16. Retrospective Analysis of Ivermectin in Hospitalized Patients With COVID-19. Retrospective analysis of consecutive patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection who were admitted to 4 Florida hospitals (n = 276) Image
17. Observational Study on the Effectiveness of Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin, and Ivermectin Among Hospitalized Patients With COVID-19. Retrospective cohort study of hospitalized adults with COVID-19 in Peru (n = 5,683)..published and later RETRACTED! Image
18. Retrospective Study of Ivermectin Versus Standard of Care in Patients With COVID-19. Retrospective study of consecutive adult patients hospitalized in Bangladesh with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection (n = 248). *prelim report not peer reviewed...will check update Image
19. The full assessment of these studies is available here:

20. So there is a lot that has happened over the last year pertaining the use of IVM. There was a lot of noise made over the SA authorities using or not using it and the controversy continues. The best way to resolve this is to have a large study n > 10000 (just wild guess)
21. The clear trend is that the sample size and study design issues are the principal source of reservation in terms of its use. My position is, if it works then use it, but let us do the necessary studies in our own scenario and publish.
22. Let those who want it lobby for the clinical trials to be done so that we can quickly make a decisive position on including it as part of the cocktail against COVID-19. We can debate till tomorrow but let the data be clear. Govt can coordinate these trials easily, do it.
23. Let us hear what other people think....✌🏾✌️

1. Remember that everytime they have launched a new currency in the last 8 years, there has always been confusion in the first 3 to 6 months. The lack of clarity is by design, it paralyzes the nation whilst them and their friends take advantage of the situation to double if not triple their fortunes.
2. Remember the fuel scam? You get USD from RBZ go to the black market change it at 1:5 and then go back to RBZ redeem your bond notes in USD = Instant millionaire! And the fun part is that you didn't even have to supply the fuel at all.
3. The confusion is deliberate, it is meant to place their runners in place and be ready to scam the entire nation. As of now every citizen is paralyzed, you can't do any "zhet" with Zig until they have created the funnels that bring your money straight into their pockets.

1. We believe in huroyi because at a very low to medium key level tinotoroya. The heating up of things in SA has some Zimboz very happy because they would love to have their fellow brothers and sisters return with nothing.
2. Imagine having worked for 20yrs in Zim resigned and your pension was worth only 125USD and you left to start again and now that could be threatened and the focus of people who are not even active in terms of civic duty is "dzokai tibvise Zanu-PF".
3. We should not be like that amana. This pseudo-competition we have along the lines of diaspora vs local is actually very toxic. It is vicious and the comments and jokes I've been seeing on Facebook speak to the level of kahuroyi nyana katinako. Just a pinch of huroyi.

1. Zimbabwean refugee system is cruel, vindictive and terrible. It is equivalent to prison, we keep other nationals in inhumane conditions. Tongogara camp is a death trap. Fellow Africans are locked up in worse conditions than they fled.
2. Zim immigration laws are vicious, they almost have no pathway to citizenship outside marriage. Our immigration laws are even more cruel towards fellow Africans, worse against asylum seekers.
3. Zimbabwe needs immigration reform. Refugees are human beings with aspirations and dreams too and can contribute to the broader society and economy. Even if they don't we must at the very least give them a dignified chance to integrate into our society.

1. It is dangerous to have hope that Zanu PF can wake up one day and realize that our collective future is intertwined and they will treat us with dignity and respect because we are all Zimbabweans.
2. Whenever the opposition put forward an olive leaf of friendship it has always been followed and repaid by the most gruesome cruelty and evil. It is becoming an exasperating situation, where the victim is apologizing and the abuser is emboldened instead of stopping the abuse
3. We all want to have hope in humanity, that one day political contestation does not lead to murder of opposition members, but everyday it looks like that might be far fetched hopefulness if not a delusion.

1. When @BitiTendai was on air with Chris Mutsvangwa he simply said, "...that you fought the liberation war cannot be used as a source of impunity for the brutality and misgovernance..."...to this Chris retorted "we have the institutions of Power".
2. By that he was referring to the Security Sector, you see these guys are clear, their power is based on control of the Security Sector. There is simply no intellectual paradigm to it, it is a simple shoot to kill ethos. This is why the comparisons with Smith are coming.
3. For sure no one wants to be compared with a racist murderer, but when you have abdicated the desire to lead, to build a Social Contract with the people, and your only card is "the Institutions of Power". The current Govt is not even bothered with trying to build a relationship

1. Like Mugabe before him, ED has an expansive network of informers and varakashi, who delude him into thinking that the empire is intact, they exaggerate perceived enemies to justify brutality, yet the writing is on the wall. Their demise will shock many!
2. When you create a wall of security agents in order to keep getting paid by you they will always bring you massaged intel to make themselves seem like they are doing amazing work. By centering intelligence as the core of running a country the President like Mugabe is boxed in.
3. They will feed his paranoia whilst seismic changes are happening in places far than his minion's ears can reach. And without warning, at the height of his confidence, he shall be shocked. Those that feed him lies will be nowhere to be found.
