Canadian women’s soccer won bronze at the last two Olympics, but much of the story has been about losing to the Americans, year after year. Not this time.

After skittish Canadian start, challenges in the 60th minute came flying from the American veterans: Rapinoe, Lloyd, London alternate Christen Press. Canada's goal keeper Stephanie Labbé was under assault, but managed to keep them scoreless.

Then, Sinclair set the ball for 23-year-old Jessie Fleming. Canada 1, U.S. 0. The Americans tried to press back, hitting the crossbar in the 85th, there were four minutes of extra time.
