Mike Carey, backed by fmr Pres. Trump, wins #OH15 GOP special election primary & will face Democratic primary winner state Rep Allison Russo in Nov 2nd election. Winner will replace fmr GOP Rep Steve Stivers who left in May. GOP has held central OH seat since 1967 except 2009-11.

Senators Manchin (D-WV) and King (I-ME) voted No with all Republicans against the Duckworth amdt.

McConnell on Senate infrastructure bill:“Best way to pass this infrastructure bill is to not try to file cloture today & speed the process.This is an extremely important bipartisan bill..And to try to truncate an amdt process on something of this magnitude,I think is a mistake."
McConnell: "If the majority leader files cloture today, I'll be encouraging my colleagues, including the negotiators, not to invoke cloture on Thursday…We know we're gonna be here next week anyway…My best advice to the majority leader would be slow but steady wins the race.”

"I continue to believe the Governor should resign."-Schumer on Capitol Hill after reading his statement to the press calling for New York Governor Cuomo to resign though he has not yet.
Schumer on holding a Senate vote to extend eviction moratorium:"We are focusing on two things in the Senate right now where we can get things done. Number one,we are urging the Admin to pursue every area that they can extend the moratorium,every area because we need it extended."
Schumer: "Second, we are urging the federal gov't to put pressure on the states to get out the money...Third, we are asking the Governors and the local elected officials of other states to extend the moratorium...Those are things we are doing on that issue."

Senate passed legislation by unanimous consent to award Congressional Gold Medals to members of the US Capitol Police and those who protected the US Capitol during the Jan 6th attack.Bill passed the House 406-21 last month and it now heads to President Biden,who plans to sign it.
Schumer on House 406-21 vote on Capitol Police Gold Medals: "I am still stunned by what happened in House where 21 members of GOP Caucus voted against this legislation.Senate is different.I expect this to pass unanimously..For the life of me,I don't know how they sleep at night."
