A common theme was ending the friendship, no matter how longstanding. 
One side effect of the necessary have-you-been-vaccinated talks, for some, was learning how to be more direct and a better advocate for their own health and safety.
And social events including weddings, visits and meeting newborns are proving to be the cutoff point for many who have friends or relatives who are unvaccinated.
And some are doing the difficult work of being patient with their vaccine-hesitant friends, answering questions and hoping they come around.
