As Israel's Delta variant wave spreads beyond middle class towns with very high vaccine coverage, the protective effect of the vaccine becomes more obvious in the data. Graph via @LittleMoiz
At the start of the wave, Israel worried that the vaccine didn't seem to be protecting enough against Delta. Now it's apparent that this was just an artifact of the wave beginning in wealthier towns with disproportionately few unvaccinated adults.
This is a good thing for the world, but bad for Israel. It means that the Delta wave, bad as it seemed, was being HEAVILY mitigated by the vaccine. As it spreads to communities with lower vaccination, things are going to get worse.
OK, maybe not good for the world either because it means Delta's pretty bad news all round.
Israel started giving (3rd) vaccine booster doses last week, with 500k over-60s already vaxxed. I wouldn't expect to see any impact of these boosters for a few weeks, though, because we know they take time to induce a complete immune reaction.
Important clarification: this graph is cases per million in each group (vaxxed, unvaxxed), NOT absolute number of cases. At more than 90% of over 60s, the vaccinated is by far the bigger group.

Ron Watkins was hyping the pillow guy's big "earth shattering" announcement last night that "NOBODY will ignore" to his 375k subscribers. It was going to be big! ImageImage
...until the actual 'announcement' turned out to not actually announce anything, leaving his subscribers puzzled and disappointed. ImageImageImageImage
"This is retarded and Lindell is going to lose his reputation over it"

"There better be something bigger than this. This is not earth shattering. I’m sorry and I feel sick to my stomach right now."

"Really wish you and others like you would stop leading people on. Fucker" Image

The majority of people who followed Trump's Jan 6 call weren't there for "a rally". They were there to witness history or make it.
The Jan 6 crowd didn't just think that Trump had won the election; they ALSO thought Trump had everything under control, that there was a plan, and that Jan 6 was going to be the day of their triumph. Nothing makes sense unless you remember this.
Since election day, the most hardcore MAGA were getting more and more hyped, 100% sure that Trump's eventual triumph would cause Liberal heads to explode. On Jan 5, many were smug, not angry.

Israel will begin giving older people a THIRD DOSE of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine, following the recommendation of a government advisory panel. PM Naftali Bennett will make the final decision today.
Israel is currently seeing a sharp spike in infections of the Delta variant, and preliminary figures seemed like older people's vaccine-induced protection *might* be waning.
Pfizer and the Health Ministry have been mooting a third dose for months, backed by former PM Netanyahu who's been an advocate of a booster dose since before the Delta wave arrived.

In honour of @wesstreeting's return to politics, I think it's time to tell the story of how he (unknowingly) became a source of tension in my marriage. Thread/
@wesstreeting My wife @shaynale68 is originally a New Yorker. Wes was visiting Jerusalem on a delegation and had a little free time, so we took him out to Gatsby, a speakeasy-theme cocktail bar with a hidden entrance behind a bookcase.
@wesstreeting @shaynale68 I remember we grimly predicted that Trump would win the 2016 election and that Brexit would narrowly pass. Also we drank cocktails and politely argued about Israel/Palestine.

This could be the reason that the Pfizer vaccine effectiveness numbers against delta appear to be so different in Israel and the UK. The UK mostly stuck to an 8-12 week dosing interval, while Israel used 3 weeks.

bbc.com/news/health-57…
It's also an argument in favour of Israel giving a third dose at, say, 6-9 months to the over-50s — a dose which might be unnecessary in the UK until 1-2 years.
In April I speculated that the real test of the UK's dosing interval would come in 9 months. I was wrong; it was sooner.

Wow, Tom Barrack, a Trump advisor and friend who ran the Trump 2017 inaugural committee, charged with acting
as an agent of the UAE. justice.gov/opa/pr/former-…
Barrack charged with "influencing the foreign policy positions of the campaign of a candidate in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and, subsequently, the foreign policy positions of the U.S. government in the incoming administration" on behalf of the UAE.
Barrack allegedly had a secret mobile phone with an encrypted app to communicate with UAE officials. He told the FBI he'd never done anything for the UAE, under questioning.
