A company that started off as a hotel aggregator, opened their own hotels, went into wedding organization, went to China, Japan and USA, but never ever made a profit, is planning to IPO.

Almost everything I have heard about that company ranges from worse to worst.
But now they will be touted as a trendsetter, a success, an amazing achievement and all other superlatives.

I am a firm believer in Karma, destiny and divine justice. But if this goes thru, this will be one time my faith will be a stirred a little bit.
I don't think they have ever come close to making money. I don't think any of their acquisitions have worked out. And I will trust the word of the devil before I trust the Financials of the company

Hell they started off by cheating a couple of Gurgaon based entrepreneurs
Go to the market and there is a trail of hardworking small businesses in the hospitality industry who will tell you how brutally they have been cheated and swindled.

But they are about to IPO. Investors will walk away with a fuckton of money. And somebody will appear on Forbes.
But where will these small business go. How will they get their money? There is as much hope of getting justice in India as much as there is getting single malt whiskey from the backside of a donkey.

They will keep trudging to courts, while someone is giving Ted Talks.
@ravihanda remember the discussion we had the other day about karma and comuppence.

With this, I am on your side..

11th century was a tough time to be in the Middle East. On one side you had Islam becoming the predominant religion and on the other, you had the Christians who wanted to put an end to the domination

To decide who's the best, in 200 years, both fought 4 wars, called Crusades
The wars ebbed and flowed, till the arrival of a dude called Saladin.

Saladin united all the Muslim troops, defeated the Crusaders repeatedly and captured Jerusalem. Many people believe Saladin saved Islam when it was most vulnerable.

But there was one more element to him.
One of the most famous representation of Saladin, was with his sword. The sword was supposed to be legendary, so much so that it cut thru the armour of the Crusaders, as it was butter.

In fact many accounts say it was the quality of the swords that made the victory possible.

The real electronics power play is not the ultra sophisticated 2 nm chip fabrication game.

It is the sub 10 rs, cheap electronics used in toys, led bulbs and other small circuits in random objects game.

That's where China dominates. We need to Crack that in the short term.
You go to a temple, a park or any random tourist locations where People are selling those boats, the florescent light things, electronic dolls, cars, that sort of things..

All are Made in China.
To develop fabrication of advanced processors will probably take years. And to develop the technical knowhow indigenously, will take decades.

But these small things, with govt support, can be done immediately. That will reduce our dependency on China, Significantly.

Going by how taxes on Fuel and automobiles are making the cost of ownership of vehicles so prohibitively expensive, I hope we don't end up becoming countries like Cambodia, where you can't buy a car & you don't have public transport.

Hope the govt does something..
You can't keep paying 18% GST + Road Tax + State tax if you want to buy a zero safety rated tin can and 43% GST for choosing a better car, and then pay 100 bucks a litre for petrol. It's not sustainable for anyone..
The manufacturers are also realizing that, there is no correlation between price and volume in the Indian auto industry, and there is only a small set of buyers they can target

And they will buy whatever the price

So car pricing has gone thru the roof. And the tax isn't helping

Hatchbacks are now touching 14 Lakhs.

Pseudo SUVs are crossing the 20 Lakh mark.

Skoda Octavia, a 20 lakh car, four years ago, now costs 35 Lakhs.

Pretty soon, you have to be Tony Stark, if you have to buy a good car in India..
I was hearing the top management of Skoda saying we are as amazing as a C class Mercedes or a 3 series BMW, that's why we are priced so high..

They believe a Merc and a BMW buyer will go for a Skoda.

Nice Kool aid they are drinking at VAG India. And they want 5% market share..
At Octavia's price point.. The Tucson now looks a steal. Bigger car.. Diesel engine options.. Similar power, torque and an equally competent Gearbox.

Backed by very good Hyundai service.

And it has a 9 lakh price difference over the Elantra, it's direct competitor.

Nobel Prize Economist comparing Togo to India on mobile payments and saying Togo is better.

People in Sathankulam getting their subsidies directly credited to their account and then paying thru UPI in the nearest T shop still using GLS bulbs, saying
UPI has ensured India leapfrogged many western Countries in terms of digital payment infrastructure.

If Indian smartphone users were a country, they would be the third most populated country in the planet.

Our direct account transfer value is more than the GDP of Pakistan
But for western educated brown sahibs and their dependents in India, India will forever remain a poor, backward, technologically obsolete, useless hell hole upon which, they have a God given right to Pontificate.

Their relevance depends on projecting India as a poor country..

Post the battle of Buxar in 1765, where the East India company defeated the armies of Mir Kasim, (AKA, the SIL of Mir Jafar), the Nawab of Awadh & the Mughals, they were rewarded with the tax collection rights of India's then most prosperous provinces, Bengal, Bihar & Orissa
Getting the rights is one thing, but actually collecting the money is another. India already had an entrenched zamindari system for tax collection, which was proving a huge obstacle for the Brits.

Warren Hastings, the then Governor General quickly understood the difficulties.
So, to ensure smooth revenue collection systems, and the fact that it is the revenue collection part of it that will help the British in all other aspects, he decided to come up with a new idea, euphemistically called, Judicial Plan.

At first it didn't work.
