DEVANGANA AND NATASHA WALK FREE!

Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal have finally been released from Tihar Central Jail today evening after Delhi High Court granted Devangana, Natasha and Asif bail in FIR 59/2020 which charged them with UAPA.
They marched out shouting slogans of "Saare pinjron ko todenge, itihaas ki dhaara modenge" and "Inquilab Zindabad", into the open skies and streets of Delhi. With great, love, joy, solidarity and tears we welcome back Natasha and Devangana as they walk out of jail tonight.
It has been over a year of their wrongful incarceration under the extraordinary UAPA and their release tonight is a day of strength and support. Their release comes 2 days after they were granted bail by Delhi HC, upon the issuing of release warrant by a District Court today.

We welcome the decision of the Delhi Sessions Court to grant the release warrant for Devangana, Natasha and Asif. This comes two days after they were granted bail by the Delhi High Court. We hope to see them released by today.
2/n We have also seen how the Delhi Police has tried to delay the release of the three student activists by asking for up to 6 days for the verification of sureties and permanent addresses.
3/n The Delhi Police has also filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court to initiate an “immediate stay” on the order of the Delhi High Court which remains to be heard.

It has now been 35 hours since the High Court order ordering the release of Natasha, Devangana and Asif, yet they haven’t walked free. It is disheartening that this comes despite the fact that as per law; accused have to be released within 24 hours of submission of bail bonds. Image
Yesterday’s bail order from the Delhi High Court bench comprising of Justice Siddharth Mridul & Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani noted that "the right to protest is not outlawed and cannot be termed as a "terrorist act.” Image
While all three are activists residing in Delhi, the Delhi Police submitted that they want to verify their parents' addresses in their respective hometowns in Haryana, Assam and Jharkhand. Image

JAMIA COORDINATION COMMITTEE. Appeal to students! The attack on educational institutions one after another, by this govt clearly brings out their nefarious agenda of stifling debate & dissent in this country by disintegrating the whole institution of education & idea behind Uni.
This idea is the idea of the university, the idea of 'lado padhai karne ko, padho samaj badalne ko', the idea of 'educate, organise, agitate' and the idea of 'padhenge, ladenge'.
This is the idea that has the power to destablise fascist regimes all over the world. It must be protected at all costs.
