Thinking of all my friends being unnecessarily and cruelly made redundant by @uniofleicester tomorrow. A disastrous backward step for @UniLeicBusiness. No good will come of any of this, for anyone involved
Why would you want to not have @DavidHarvieUCU working for you? An amazing scholar and committed teacher. For many years he gave his all to improving the undergraduate curriculum, benefitting tens of thousands of students
@profsimonlilley was the very model of the engaged and supportive academic manager. He led by example with a strong ethical and moral compass. Is that no longer the way for @UniLeicBusiness ?
I worked with Valerie Fournier at both Keele and Leicester. A phenomenal thinker of alternative economies who lives her life in line with the values she espouses. Exactly the kind of scholarly voice we need for these times. But not at @uniofleicester apparently
Not much I can add to everything that has been said about Gibson Burrell. One of the most important social scientists of the past few decades. So what kind of ‘excellence’ is being shaped there @uniofleicester ?
I taught @GeorgeKokkinidi as a PhD students. An enormously talented scholar just beginning on his career. I think of his young family whose lives have been caught up with the vindictive institutional chaos of @uniofleicester
I have only known @samdallyn a few years. A profoundly decent and modest scholar who, again, has a rich and rewarding career ahead with huge contributions to be made. But not at @UniLeicBusiness it seems
These are all wonderful people who have given their all to @uniofleicester@UniLeicBusiness Like the other colleagues being made redundant, they have names, lives, and families. They are not numbers on a spreadsheet to be disposed of.
So it seems that there is now no alternative but to permanently #boycottleicester
I know @ronald_hartz by reputation only as an amazing scholar whose work brought a much needed international dimension to @UniLeicBusiness I am sorry we did not have the opportunity to be colleagues and for the way he has been so egregiously treated by @uniofleicester
@Dourness and I began our academic careers together. He is a person of huge integrity and principle. Over the years he has supported and challenged me to my great benefit on every occasion. This is what a good and dependable colleague looks like @UniLeicBusiness
@Gareth_S_Brown is a outstanding colleague. Insightful, loyal and inspiring in everything he does. He is the exact opposite of the amoral mediocrity that now appears to be the vision for @UniLeicBusiness
