Ashoka Tree in Indian History-
As the name suggests Ashoka means without Shoka (Grief); yes it is believed to remove all the sorrows of life.Brahma said: “He, who eats eight buds of Asoka flowers on the eight day of the moon’s suffers no grief in life”. 1/n
In the Mahabharata for instance, Damyanti while looking for Nala goes into a forest of Asoka trees and asks the tree to relieve her from grief and tell her where her husband is in the forest. Asoka tree is sacred both to Hindus and Buddhists. 2/n
Hindus worship it on the 13th day of the month of Chaitra. The tree was blessed to be immortal by Siva because his consort Parvati had worshipped him with the flowers of this tree and therefore, the tree remains evergreen. 3/n
The tree is considered as a symbol of love and dedicated to Kamadeva. Kamadeva is worshipped with garlands of red Asoka flowers. One of the five arrows of Kamadeva is made of Asoka flowers. It is believed that tree blossoms only when vigorously kicked by a young virgin 4/n
It is said that the Kurbaka tree blossoms when a lovely woman clasps it; Lodhra tree blossoms when she looks at it; the Asokatree when it is touched by her foot; the mango when her hand touches it; the Kesava or the Bekula when sprinkled with intoxicants from her mouth. 5/n
Ashoka maintained the chastity and the youth ,beauty of Sita when she was kept in Ashok Vatika. The tree is sacred to Siva and is planted on the south-east corner of the house or the temple.

Thread…The secret of Pi (Katapayadi sankhya) in Indian History. The shloka above, seems to be one of the many written in praise of one of the most enigmatic and divine Lords of Hinduism, Krishna.
So, what is so special about this shloka, Simple enough, the shloka demonstrates one of the strongest and most intelligent examples of extreme knowledge and wisdom of our ancient men. Grahacāraṇibandhana based in the year 683 CE and Laghubhāskariyavivarana based in the year 869
speak of a certain numerical notation which goes by the name of Katapayadi Sankhya.
Under this system, a number is ascribed to each and every alphabet of the script, a concept highly similar to the ASCII system in computers.

Thread.....The Greater Jwalaji Temple Baku, Azerbaijan. In 1883 Russian Czar Alexander Alexandrovich , known historically as Alexander III who reigned as Emperor of Russia, King of Poland and Grand Prince of Finland , went to Baku to visit the fire temple Ateshgah.
He witnessed a full Vedic Agnihotra from the homan pit lit by a natural naphta fire , conducted by Indian Hindu Brahmins.
The fire temple at Baku was built during the reign of the great Indian Emperor Vikramaditya in 7000 BC, who ruled from Palestine to Urals to Vietnam.. In 1683 a German traveler Kaempfer has visited Baku. He noted that there are seven fire holes at the Hindu temple.
