We know ventilation is a key part of the layered "Swiss cheese" approach to reducing transmission of airborne diseases including COVID-19. But as schools and universities ramp up to open with increased capacity, many don't have room-level ventilation data for their spaces. (2/)
We were in this situation too - so we volunteered our time and expertise to helping our universities and local schools characterize ventilation, working with facilities managers, teachers and administrators to collect data, identify problem areas, and address them (3/ )
In this paper we present a range of approaches for characterizing ventilation on a room level. We share new data from universities and schools in a range of climates and building types across the U.S., and discuss our experiences using this data to support decision making (4/ )
The data are fascinating, and we hope this synthesis is helpful to others with questions about ventilation in the educational spaces we work and study in. bit.ly/3lUi2FC (5/ )
