- Your LinkedIn profile
- Your Twitter profile
- Your website
- A side project you did
- Something you worked on for your friend
3/ Market yourself.
Get people to see your work.
- Outbound (you reach out to people you want to work with)
- Inbound (Let people come to you)
I suggest: do a mix.
Here's how:
- Outbound via cold DMs / emails
- Inbound via building an audience
4/ Shoot your shots!
I cannot stress this enough. The day you stop being scared of reaching out to people is the day your life will change.
If you want to work with someone, shoot them a DM or a cold email.
You'll be stumped at how many times people will respond.
Bonus: Learn the art of communication.
Try,
"Hey X,
Love your Twitter.
I saw you're building [X]. Great going! I've been working on [zzz] and I thought you might be interested to take a look. Maybe I could create something similar for your [X].
What say?"
5/ Grow a community.
- Offer value to people
- Post your work
- Share learnings and experiences
- Be real with people
- Be consistent
Building in public is the best leverage you have. Use it.
Once you've built enough credibility, people will 100% buy from you.
6/ Be patient.
Social media is anything but easy. It demands dedication.
The key is to chuck perfectionism down the drain and keep publishing.
Remember: You get good while you get going.
The internet is at your service. It's on you to either use it or just keep browsing it.
Cheers!
