Back in the Before Times, I set up this bobbin lace and did a demo at a museum. (December 2019)
But now I want to A) Use the pillow this lace is on, and B) Set up a blocking-mat pillow, so! Here is the demo lace being worked off the pillow and onto the blocking mat, with the help of a scrap of foamcore.
This is a mass of pins.
The bobbins alone weigh about 14 ounces (400-ish grams).
oh look. more pins.
SO many pins.
I'm starting to borrow pins from the back to work on the front.
And 10 days later, including three days demoing in the heat and humidity while wearing a mask:
(That section with the little flower shape is very very dense.)
High temp Friday and Saturday, 87°F, dew points in the 70s F. Sunday it only got up to 82, break out the sweaters!
Almost to the end of my thread, trying to squeak out one more repeat.

@JulieTheCranky Another Porch Cat story:
I have 4o'clock roots I dig up & replant every year. Never got around to planting them this season, between the heat and the whining mosquito horde. Yesterday I decided to plant them late anyway.
I went out with shovel & bag of sprouting roots, dig my hole, & started arranging roots in it, and I hear a polite "Yow." Look up, Porch Cat is right in front of me, under a small oak tree. She comes over to check out what I'm doing.
So there I am, pawing sand into a hole? She thinks she understands this.
Meanwhile I'm looking at the tender shoots I am covering with sand, thinking UH OH.
