Demons of Asteborg is coming to Genesis and Mega Drive! Unfortunately, the cartridge that I've seen that's being used to accommodate this title is poorly, POORLY designed! Here's why! . . . .
There's an LDO in the top left-hand section that's being used to generate 3V3 supply voltage to various components. Are these parts not +5VDC tolerant and if they're not, is there any voltage translation?
I zoomed in on this TSSOP memory module, and it's an ST 29W series parallel flash memory. This chip isn't designed to interface with a +5VDC bus (Genesis) and there's NO voltage translation between the system bus (Genesis/MD) and the game (cartridge).
JUNK cartridge!
Providing a 3v3 supply voltage to this memory means absolutely nothing when your +5VDC address and databusses of the Genesis/Mega-Drive DIRECTLY interface with these CMOS (3V3) MAXIMUM inputs/outputs.
I'd throw this piece of shit in the trash and start over.
Let me qualify some of my comments.
I don't think this is going to destroy any hardware, but I believe that this could be designed much better.
By the time I buy this cartridge and have it shipped to me, I'm going to have easily $100USD in this single game.
And I'm sorry, guys. Maybe I was harsh. I just expect better for that kind of money. These things irk me a little. I'm sure the designer isn't a bad guy.
