WaPo:”The Taliban’s blitz across Afghanistan pushed closer to Kabul on Saturday as US diplomats appealed to the militants to stop the advance or risk conflict with thousands of US troops flooding into the capital to evacuate diplomats and other personnel.” washingtonpost.com/world/2021/08/…
Washington Post reports the US is asking the Taliban to not enter Kabul until all US evacuations are complete to avoid confrontation with US troops.
“While the Americans want at all costs to avoid a direct confrontation between the Taliban and U.S. troops, the extent to which the Afghan military will resist the militants’ entry into Kabul is unclear.” washingtonpost.com/world/2021/08/…
“Any political settlement at this point is likely to be tantamount to full Taliban control, even if it includes elements of power-sharing with nonmilitant political figures and power brokers. The Taliban, however, has been adamant that Ghani cannot remain in power.”

A 2018 NCCS survey of 449 families found 95 % said their child’s cancer caused a financial burden on their family. A 2009 study in the American Journal of Medicine found that 14.6% of medical bankruptcies were caused by the illness of a child.
“I got a cold call from H.R. that said, ‘You’re terminated effective immediately and all your benefits expire at midnight.’ We went from 50K a year to zero,”
One parent told me, of when her unpaid medical leave ran out.
A man who participated in the Jan. 6th Capitol riot, going into the building and cheering on the break in, was able to join GOP members of Congress on a trip to the border Tuesday. Serving at times as a translator and even driving a member in his truck.
Anthony Aguero, a close ally of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene can be seen in videos and photos with Republican members of Congress who traveled to a route along the border frequented by migrants on Tuesday night.
During his livestream of the Tuesday visit, Aguero interviewed and chatted with Reps. Tom. Tiffany, Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthorn, Chris Jacobs, Michael Cloud, John Rose, Ronny Jackson, and Mary Miller.
For kids with brain cancer and many other types of childhood cancer, there are few good treatment options, because these children are an afterthought in the world of drug development because there is no profit.
I am very proud to announce the creation of the Team Beans Infant Brain Tumor Fund at Dana Farber to benefit the newly-created Infant Brain Tumor Center at Dana Farber/Boston Children's Hospital.
Since Francesca's death, we raised more than $820,000 to benefit the new Infant Brain Tumor Program at Dana Farber.
This program will be a place where top doctors and researchers come together in an effort to find better cancer treatments for babies with brain cancer.
Though Francesca will never get to experience the life she should have, with your support we have created a lasting legacy for our daughter.
We've sent a goal of raising $1 million by year's end.
To get this campaign started, we have personally donated $15,000 today.
If you don't mind me sharing a random story about some very good people.
When I was in Boston, my wife and I went out to dinner at @BleacherBar, a restaurant outside Fenway Park with Francesca between chemotherapy treatments.
We sat outside and were the only ones there.
This was October 2020 and they didn't have many customers.
It was our first time eating out during the pandemic.
The waiter noticed our hats – Rachel had on a Yankees hat, I had a on Rays hat. He made a joke about wearing them at Fenway Park.
We told him were there for our daughter's cancer treatments and he expressed how sorry he was.
Even though they didn't have many customers they gave us our meal for free. We told them we wanted to pay, but they wouldn't let us.
