Turkey's government is exploring ways to keep its soldiers stationed at Kabul international airport even after the Taliban have seized control of Afghanistan, two Turkish officials told Middle East Eye.

“Turkey still could secure the Kabul airport and it could help the Taliban to obtain a diplomatic presence in Kabul. It might help them to get the diplomatic recognition they wanted,” the Turkish official added. “If they don’t want us, we can leave.”

We reported yesterday that Armenia and Azerbaijan were close to a ceasefire deal.

We laid out the components of the draft deal, including peacekeeping forces, corridors. All of the components are in the actual ceasefire deal released by Sputnik.

5th clause of the ceasefire deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan says a peacekeeping centre will be established to observe the ceasefire. Turkey will be part of that centre

• Draft deal forces Armenia to withdraw from some areas amid the deployment of a Turkish and Russian peacekeeping force, Turkish sources tell MEE

• Armenia will immediately withdraw from five out of seven occupied raions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh .
• Yerevan will withdraw additional two raions in 15 days
