Look, I had to do a mute spree on Afghanistan, man.
A lot of people are trying to convince me that Biden didn't do the right thing when he absolutely did b/c it's proving him right that we were/are wasting our damn time propping up an army/gov't failing on an hourly basis.
I'm pretty sure this is Joe's "This is my decision" moment and it's standing up to a Foreign Policy and Military-Industrial establishment who have been feeding lies and bullshit for over a decade-plus and I applaud him for it.
Look, I'm not an "isolationist" by any means.
But I basically take the Cronkite-esque view on the war where it's clear that it's wasting time, money and American lives and it's time to pull back while saying we did the best job we could but in the end its no longer worth it.
I know what the Taliban are going to do and are capable of.
Nobody is fooling themselves on that front, I assure you.
But the fact is that Afghans themselves know it to and they had a year-plus to prepare for us leaving but there they are folding like a bunch of cheap damn suits.
We gave them billions and they act like a bunch of drug addicts who are having their drug supply cut off.
Fitting considering that they had us protect a Poppy/Opium trade that was in fact a backdoor Taliban funding mechanism that kept them in the game for this moment.
That's the thing isn't it?
Tweets from those who actually were deployed to Afghanistan are telling us that this was inevitable and that those who will be flooding Sunday Morning Talk circuit today were and are all full of s**t.
Joe Biden may get yelled at by those who wanted Nation Builders Inc. of Afghanistan to succeed b/c they wanted US to get one over the Soviets, but in the end he's right when it's damn clear we're wasting our time helping ppl who refuse to fight.
We stayed way too long and it's better to get out now rather than waste any more time delaying the inevitable.
Joe Biden knows that and anybody looking at this and refusing to listen to the Bush/Cheney NeoCon Nation Builders Inc. of Afghanistan crowd knows it too.
If there are any failures on the American side, it's the stupid motherf**kers at the Defense Department, State Department and the IC who all made/executed plans based off the bulls**t idea Joe Biden would somehow magically no longer be an Afghanistan skeptic anymore b/c Trump.
Yes, Trump handcuffed Biden w/Doha Agreement and was a blatant Taliban ass-kisser.
But Joe's skepticism on Afghanistan pre-dates Trump and he's never been a fan of Nation Building period.
You think the guy who butted heads with Barack over the '11 surge would suddenly change?
Wanna know what Biden sees in the images out of Kabul/Afghanistan?
He sees what anybody not drinking the NeoCon/MIC kool-aid sees: A vindication of the belief we wasted billions in money/equipment, hundreds of millions of lives, and countless diplomatic time/energy.
Being against propping up a weak/corrupt Gov't is not being "isolationist", it's not like Biden isn't going to switch to Drones/Surveillance + ability to strike via drones, air and sea at will should we see the Taliban house terrorists again.
We're leaving Afghanistan, deal with it.
Sad and horrific that the Afghan Gov't/Military is folding like a bunch of cheap suits to the Taliban, but that's not our nor Biden's fault & I'm sick of people attacking him for seeing the truth and not the bulls**t fed for over 15 years.
The NeoCon crowd, Foreign Policy elites and the Military-Industrial Complex all fed us the bulls**t that if we pumped money, time and equipment into Afghanistan it could eventually, someday stand on its own as a full-function modern Democracy.
It was, then and today, bulls**t.
Stop listening to the people flooding Cable/Broadcast news suggesting to you it's otherwise, especially those with Cheney as their last name or those from the administration that decided to abandon Afghanistan in 2003 in order to "Finish what Poppa Bush failed to finish".
To wrap it up, here's the deal:
What you're seeing is what happens when Afghanis actually didn't buy into the Nation we built for them & when too many people believed the guy who butted heads with his boss in 2011 would magically change his mind.
And FFS, stop listening to the people who didn't have a clear and workable endgame in Afghanistan and wanted us to stay there forever b/c of either getting one over on those damn Soviets or b/c they want Afghanistan to be a proxy just like they were in the 80s.
And if you're favorably quote-tweeting Daughter of Darth Cheney this morning, please stop it.
You know better.
Oh, and don't say I'm an "isolationist" or that I don't know what the Taliban are going to do.
I was here not happy that Obama held his powder dry against Assad.
I'm a realist, I believe our presence is a positive force in some places and a destructive one in others.
I also know what the Taliban are going to do, and if you accuse me of not caring about it you're foolish.
Nobody is out here saying Taliban aren't going to brutally send Afghanistan back to the dark ages, we know they are.
But...that's probably what rural Afghanis want frankly.

He owned his decision and rightfully noted his decision was forced by the direct deal Trump and Pompeo cut with the Taliban along with the troop cut Trump ordered before he went out the door.
Biden has been anti-Nation Building for over a decade now after it's clear it was a disaster in both Iraq (Iran-friendly Shi'ites took over, bloody Sectarianism arose which helped give birth to AQI and later Daesh/ISIS) and Afghanistan (Gov't became irrevocably corrupt).
So when he was given a situation where it was either punt on the date a few months but still leave OR call up a surge and be willing to have open warfare with the Taliban for another decade to prop up a corrupt and weak Gov't...the choice for Biden was obvious.

Note: The September schedule for TCM is still just like any other month, in fact it looks like they'll be playing silent movies all day on 9/28.
What this looks like is something TCM does once a decade in a graphical overhaul and probably a change in the look of intros/outros.
They do this once every 5-10 years or so.
And really, the current graphics package is one they've had for over a decade now and it's probably high time for an overhaul on that front.
Looks like they might have a different look (Virtual?) with the wraparound intros/outros too.
And yes, based upon this "C", it does look like we're about to get TCM's first major logo change.
I'm very interested to see what it looks like in full and in action.
Love the old logo, but I do think it's time to finally put it to rest and freshen it up.

An era of Television is coming to an end tonight as Europe’s first Cable/Satellite-exclusive channel is signing off after nearly 40 years of service.
The channel first signed on on April 26th, 1983 as Satellite aka “Super Station Europe”.
However, it faces financial issues largely due to Cable/Satellite Television being so new it’s not even fully operational yet.
The next year though, a white knight emerges to take Satellite Television into Britain and bigger via buying a maj 65% in Satellite.
It’s this guy: Image

Trump locked us into getting out of Afghanistan via the Doha Agreement agreed to by Trump and his Taliban kiss-ass negotiator.
I would remind everybody that there was very real plans by Trump to BRING THE TALIBAN TO CAMP DAVID ON 9/11 LAST YEAR.
We were gonna be held to that.
And it helps that Biden was NEVER a fan of Nation Building Inc. of Afghanistan to begin with, esp as it came after we completely dumped the concept of Afghanistan the moment W decided to "finish Daddy's job" in Iraq.
And just like how we put a mostly-Shi'ite Gov't chummy with Iran in charge in Iraq, we put in a Gov't in Afghanistan ill-equipped to deal w/its Tribal elements AND susceptible to corruption.
Didn't help the Taliban got backdoor $ thru the Poppy trade that we did NOTHING to stop.

Opening schools w/o any mitigation measures-by choice or, most likely, by order/threat-is a recipe for disaster.
Imagine images like this but in school after school in county after county in state after state all across America in buildings not equipped for COVID.
I'm really worried about what's going to happen as COVID runs rampant through unvaccinated kids esp in states/districts that decided to listen to the angry White parents brained by the hypocritical f**ks in RWNJ Media.
And make no mistake about it, this is all by design.
Republicans want children DEAD to help them politically.
That should be blatantly clear by now...

We've been "training and advising" for 15 of the 20+ years we've been there.
And yet all these cities are falling, and there's a reason for that.
And the reason undermines the "80% of Afghanis want us there" line you're selling.
We decided to launch an Afghanistan branch of Nation Build Inc because we had to do something there.
And JUST LIKE IN IRAQ we put in a Government that fell quick to corruption and susceptible to the forces we were trying to beat.
And despite the Congressman's claims, there are many within Afghanistan who hate us and want nothing to do with that "Female Empowerment" thing that we've been doing.
They also are not fans of organized Gov't and would prefer tribal-style Gov't which the Taliban roll with.
