Thread on scams being run on unsuspecting users!

#AmazonScam
Immediately after a big Amazon purchase you will get a call, claiming to be from Amazon customer care, with rewards for your loyalty.
Offering various products ranging from free shopping to Harrier
They will ask you to shop for a certain amount again to be eligible. You will be asked to add products to cart and for payment give a UPI link or Paytm link to make payment.
When asked why not pay on Amazon itself, you will be told that that's not possible for this offer.
The big issues with this scam, other than the scam itself, is that the scammer have all your data, for the last purchase, amount, what you bought etc. Points to a big leak in Amazon or on one of their vendors.
#OLXScam

If you put second hand products up for sale, people will reach out to you expressing interest in buying the product. They will claim that they cannot visit, or are sending someone to pick up the product and need your location and number to make payment
When you give your UPI number they send a UPI scan code and ask you to scan the code to recieve the payment.

*Do not do this*

You never have to scan an image and enter your pin to receive payments you only have to do that when making payments
#SMSScam #PayTMScam

You will recieve an sms stating you've got a Paytm cash back of a significant amount, the sms will have a link to claim the cash back.

This url is not the original Paytm url and the page looks like a Paytm page. Don't share UPI IDs & pins or wallet details
#InsuranceScam

You're called by a lady who claims to be from a insurance company who tells you that you brought a insurance plan a few years ago with a high premium, but missed paying premium after the first year.
The premium is high, 50k plus & you're told
You'll lose the money if you don't not restart the plan. To restart you will have to pay 2-3 years premium upfront and you will get 2x-3x the amount after a year.
To do so you're give a second number
The lady calling cannot send you the policy document as she is from the expiry department and you have to call the relationship manager. The relationship manager will give you some details on mail, no policy document and will promise the policy payout.
This is a scam
There is no policy and you will loose your funds if you transfer the amount.
#JobScam

If you're looking for a job, somone will call you, claiming to be a HR Manager for a reputed organization. They will interview you & then tell you that you will have to appear for other rounds.
They will call back a few days later that the second round is not required
That you have been shortlisted and are being offered the job. You will be asked for your documents and using you documents like #aadhar and #pancard money will be transferred bout of your bank accounts
#Ecommercescam

You will recieve a package at your home address, saying that you have a COD package.
Assuming someone at home has ordered it you will be asked to make payment. That package is usually worth a fraction of its cost if not total junk.
Things to check before you click, pay reply, scan or send docs to someone:
Check URL - most businesses and platforms will have a consistent URL they will not create URL for a small promotion
e.g. Amazon rewards will be Amazon.in/rewards instead of amazonrewards.in
No established company is going to ask you to make payments on another payment platform. Even when they have a wallet integration, it will be always on their platform.
No one will send you to another platform to pay
You don't have to scan QR Codes or enter a pin to recieve money.

Do not scan codes or enter pins if someone asks you to
Check email ids. Phishing campaigns and emails come from very similar sounding urls or email ids. They do not look like the correct email handle

Pay attention to the grammer and language of emails. These scam emails have many mistakes.
Cash back sms, come from normal local numbers, corporate and brand sms will come with sms short codes or will come from short numbers
Check urls on sms's ensure they are the correct urls
If someone calls you for a missed premium or emi,
Ask for a policy or loan document to be sent to you
Search the policy number or loan number in your email you will find the documents if you bought the product
Never transfer money without proper documentation
Finally do not share, UPI ID, Pin, card details cvv pin, aadhar card, pan car details without verifying the person asking for it
