Who, doesn't enjoy a Cheeky Nandos? those Peri Peri Salted Fries and nice spicy Chicken, what's not to like?
Well it seems that things are a bit tough for Nando's at the moment...
Restaurants all over England, Scotland and Wales are suffering shortages of supplies and they have had to close about 50 premises.
Prompting this tweet from Nando's HQ...
But hang on, if Twitter has limited characters why didn't Nando's just type "UK" instead?
Well that's because there is one area of the UK not suffering from a lack of reasonably priced spicy chicken and fries. Northern Ireland is still has easily accessible Cheeky Nando's...
But that's not fair! how come NI can still enjoy those Peri Peri Salted Fries and rUK has to go without?
What is it that is so different about NI that they still get a Cheeky Nando's any time they like?...
Well the real reason is this...
You see, unlike the UK Govt and their gammon fisted approach to Brexit, the EU were prepared.
The UK Govt thought that Europe would still want to use "The Land Bridge" illustrated below.
And that the EU would acquiesce to making border checks easier to keep trade flowing...
This would of course make exports to the EU easy too, but the EU didn't do that.
Those dastardly europeans totally sideswiped the UK Gov't and put in place all those lovely new Ferry Routes and Services...
And of course as the NI Protocol led to a "soft border" so that NI could still access the EU single market, then those tasty Peri Peri Salted Fries and Spicy Chicken continue to flood into the only part of the UK attached to a sensible neighbour.
Leading to scenes like this...
One could almost be forgiven for thinking that access to the Single Market and Frictionless Borders were a good thing.
1) We try to focus our twitter feed, debunking the Unionist Parties, promoting our Party & Elected Members, Social Justice issues and obviously the idea of Independence…
We try to stay out of any "Indy Infighting" as we see it as counterproductive and not advancing the cause…
2) So this twitter thread is one of the most awkward we have ever had to write.
Because, and especially in this community we have benefitted mightily from having had Alex Salmond as our Party Leader...
For a long time as our Local MP...
And for a shorter spell as our MSP...
3) Alex was Formidable & Effective and it's hard not to admire his wider achievements, as a matter of fact we still do.
But when we saw this video emerge, followed by similar media appearances throughout this week we could stay silent no longer…
1) Our chum @RishiSunak has made the 5 pledges in this photo. And at first glance it appears a reasonable plan... but if you look a little deeper...
2) Halving inflation - well according to the OBR and other financial think tanks that's going to happen anyway (even when @trussliz was PM) and without Gov't Intervention so thanks for nothing Rishi!
3) Grow the economy - The CBI and OBR both forecast the economy returning to growth next year without Gov't Intervention
(because let's face it when you've crashed it already it can only grow): only the Bank of England doesn't agree
1) It's now becoming clear that Brexit was never going to save the Scottish Seafood Sector!
And that our Fishermen’s futures….. as expected…. Have been sacrificed on the altar of the wider UK/EU Trade Deal…
2) while the CFP was flawed Mr Park highlights areas here where it could have offered opportunities (trading in unused quota) which Scottish Fishermen are now denied by virtue of being an Independent Coastal State...
3) It's often said that the enemy of your enemy is your friend, if you are a Fisherman and you perceived the EU as your enemy, and saw the @Conservatives as their enemy then it was an easy conclusion to come to that they would be your friend…
1) Well folks it's the Anniversary of Brexit today…. 3 years ago the Brexiteers were excitedly awaiting 23:00hrs as we would leave the EU at that point.
2) We couldn't leave at Midnight due to the time difference between the UK and the Continent, the fact that we even had to leave on the EU's timetable should have been a warning…
alas it was not heeded.
3) So after 3 years how is it going?... We'd have to say… not well.
As a member of the EU the UK had trade deals with all of the other 194 countries in the world…
There is at least one large hotel away up here in Peterhead which is currently closed to the public, under the control of the Home Office, currently being staffed by one of their outsourcing cronies, housing Immigrants.
Many towns in Scotland are also housing immigrants. 2.6
