Approx. 20 members of California State Militia, "Echo Company" were out in full fatigues at a vax protest outside a Kaiser hospital in Modesto yesterday. Echo Company has been disavowed by even the rest of the CA State Militia.

The same "Echo Company" showed up openly carrying rifles and handguns in response to a purported BLM rally in Oakdale that never materialized in June of 2020. They were also present at a rally at the CA Capitol on January 6 of this year

Adding a bit more for clarification: despite the name, neither Echo Company nor the California State Militia have any sort of legitimate military status in the state of California. They are private paramilitary groups.

While the CA and US constitution do mention militias, those are the Republican notion of militia that is obsolete in our current state, and would be drawn from the general citizenry. Private paramilitaries are not the kind of “militia” mentioned in either
