Mutations will happen no matter what.
If no vaccine is deployed, the new viral variants are still competing against the original virus to find hosts.
If a vaccine is deployed that only affects the original virus, the new variants have less competition
So it's not that the vaccine "causes" new variants to emerge. What it does is create a situation where the new variant is able to infect more people than if no vaccine had been deployed.
Assume 99% of a virus in a population is original and 1% of a virus is a variant.
These two versions compete against each other to infect new hosts. This competition inhibits the new variant's success in increasing the percentage of the population it infects.
Now assume a vaccine is deployed that only affects the original virus and not the variant.
As the vaccine is rolled out the spread of the original virus in the population is reduced. This reduces the competition the variant faces to find new hosts.
Over time, this allows the variant to become the dominant strain much faster than if no vaccine was deployed.
This can be good if the new variant is less lethal overall.
Or it can be bad if the new variant is more lethal.
An added variable is that the variant can spread at a different rate than the original.
If the variant spreads significantly faster it would become more prevalent over time without a vaccine.
If it spreads significantly slower it would become less prevalent without the vax

Biden is either the most callous, disrespectful, oblivious, clueless, and self-centered politician to occupy the White House,
or...
Joe is sick and is affected by some form of medical disorder.
Either way he must resign.
1/ Thread
Joe's behavior yesterday at Dover, including repeatedly checking his watch during the transfer ceremony as the coffins of our heroes arrived, and his tone-deaf unsympathetic conversations with the new gold star families, has shocked and angered many Americans.
2)
Joe Biden's recent actions and lack of judgment should disqualify him from office.
His behavior is inexcusable.
Unless he is sick.
I think it's time that, as a nation, we should look seriously at the possibility he is ill.
3)
Yesterday's press conference by Joe was a disaster. As much as I dislike him, I wish for our country's sake he could at least seem competent on the world stage.
Many Americans are beginning to wake up to what most of us have known for some time, namely that Joe is a puppet.
"Ladies and gentlemen, they gave me a list here. The first person I was instructed to call on..."
They gave him a list?
He was instructed to call on certain people?
After I watched him I was left wondering, who is actually the President?
Because it's seemingly not Joe.
It almost seems as if there is some sort of commitee or shadow organization that is telling Joe what to do and when to do it.
Joe is never available for a timely unscripted response.
The current debacle in Afghanistan is exposing this fact in ways that other issues can't.
This isn't just a seating chart. It's a #CheatSheet that shows not only which reporters Resident Biden will call on, but also the ORDER in which they will be called.
We can't see the whole sheet but four numbers are visible: 1, 5, 8, & 9.
