1. Socso has paid out RM11mil to beneficiaries of eligible contributors who died due to Covid-19.
It will also provide RM110mil for long-term payments to the husband or wife of the recipient and then to their children until they reach 21 years old or complete their first degree.
2. CEO Dr Mohammed Azman says this involves almost 11,100 recipients whose applications were approved through the Employment Injury Scheme.
He says Socso has also disbursed RM200mil to almost 50,000 contributors who lost their jobs due to Covid-19, from Jan-July this year.
3. The payment via the Employment Insurance System was based on loss of employment through the closure of companies, downsizing and Voluntary Separation Scheme, among others.
However, those who were dismissed due to disciplinary problems and others are not eligible to apply.
"Kita tidak akan tunggu sehingga waris memohon. Pegawai-pegawai akan ke rumah waris, jika nombor KP mereka berada dalam sistem dan layak, kita terus proses dan bayar faedah yang layak mereka terima."
5. Socso's Prihatin Squad, formed in 2016, monitors information in the mass media, social media or from the public if there were deaths or accidents involving contributors.
Azman says the search and serve approach is to ensure the well-being of employees and insured individuals.
