Dore, Greenwald, and Blumenthal all at it now too, some for several weeks.

Boosting antivax articles from a website that exists solely due to patronage of a hedge fund investor to own the libs.

The ivermectin thing is weird, both that the grifters are all apparently in on it and also some aspects of the response which are overly focused on it being a horse dewormer.
During 2020 there were a bunch of studies done on various generic drugs to see if they'd be useful treating Covid patients. One of the more successful ones was on steroids to treat severe Covid. Some of these are ongoing, because there's still plenty of Covid infections to treat.
There's nothing inherently wrong with testing cheap drugs to see if they're useful for treating other diseases, especially if vaccines aren't available.

Pushing drugs with zero or marginal effects as an alternative to vaccination is fucking horrible quack shit though.

Incredible bad faith on display here - has to adopt the blatant lie that no-one campaigns for 20mph speed limits in residential areas, to then accuse people of hypocrisy for wanting to tackle child covid deaths.

It's probably slightly harder for Greenwald to follow his mates and directly go pro-Ivermectin, because it'd put him uncomfortably close to Bolsonaro. But he can boost pro-Ivermectin content as the latest frontier of corporate internet censorship. Glenn Greenwald quote twee...
Real world consequences to this, and not only for the people self-medicating.

Starting to see this kind of commentary and people need to stop. Proof of vaccination for a flight has a lot of precedent. 'Vaccine passports' are not this though, the term is being used to mean domestic ID cards.
The UK is considering domestic vaccine (or potentially 'covid status' allowing for a recent negative test too) passports to cover activities such as going to the pub or theatre.

Good thread on just how bad things are in the UK and how likely it is they'll get significantly worse.

On what the government is thinking and what evidence they're considering, it is pretty clear they are prioritising labour discipline above all else. Over lives certainly, but also over capital accumulation during the pandemic.
Whenever there is a discussion of measures that can be taken, it is always about levels of lockdown, sometimes whether schools shoule close. What gets left out is the intransigence over sick pay for people supposed to be self isolating.

There's a more general problem, hinted at but not made explicit in this piece, that the framing of pro-lockdown vs denialism is handing over analysis of the pandemic to two extremely right wing narratives that don't even disagree that much.

Lockdown, as it existed from March, combined some necessary things (shutting down mass public events in poorly ventilated buildings) with completely arbitrary, authoritarian, counter productive stuff like banning people from sitting down in parks or going for long walks.
Lockdown as re-introduced yesterday with Tier 3 restrictions, bans sitting two metres away from your mate in the park, but allows you to sit 1m from a stranger inside a pub as long as you've both ordered a meal.
