Price Changes Explained – A thread 🧵
There seems to be a lot of questions regarding price rises/falls and without going into the basics I thought I’d offer some clarity on the subject. I was part of the original price change site @TotalFPL so I have something to offer here
1.Why has Lukaku not gone up in price?
Any new transfers to the league are price protected for 7 days. This means that any transfer ins or outs for that player do not count towards price movements for those 7 days. After 7 days, his Net transfers in (NTI) counter starts at zero
2.Price fall mechanisms are different for ‘rises’ and for falls below base value
For a player to fall below his base value, say in the case of Toney (6.5), they need a certain percentage of his ownership to sell him, so the higher the player ownership the more transfers..(cont)
he needs to fall below his base value.
However, say Toney had risen to 6.6, the player ownership function does not come into play. It requires a preset number of transfer outs, irrespective of the ownership. (cont)
This of course increases with every price fall in the week, a second price fall within the same week has a significantly higher threshold. It increases even further for the third, but the algorithm for price falls over base value is totally different to under base value
3.Why has Willian fallen by 0.2 with just -12k transfers out this season but Toney is yet to fall with -400k out?
Firstly, Toney had 200k transfers in for GW2, so it’s really -200K NTI, not -400K. The price algorithm for falls is completely different... (continued)
completely different for players below 5 percent ownership. It requires a much smaller percentage of transfers out for these players to fall. For higher ownership players, the price fall mechanism is explained earlier.
Worth mentioning that price fall thresholds are also increased when players are yellow/red flagged. The Red flag threshold is higher than the yellow one. I'm not sure what happens when they're orange (50% probability to play) as we didn't have that in the @TotalFPL days
