Been reading US media's coverage of the UK's Equality Act decision, and finding it to be surprisingly balanced.

@CNN @AP @nytimes @washingtonpost @politico and even @NPR have all covered the story.

Not an exaggeration. There is literally a case currently pending in the US where a man refused to be screened for possible prostate cancer. He insisted that he didn't have a prostate because of his woman identity, therefore no possibility of prostate cancer. 1/5
His doctor receives federal funding under the Affordable Care Act, which the Department of Health and Human Services interprets as prohibiting discrimination on the basis of "gender identity." 2/5
The doctor was (understandably) worried that if he insisted on sex-specific care for his (male) patient, he would lose his federal funding. So he (along with a class of similarly-situated doctors) sued the government. 3/5

I don't want to say too much about the sender of the email, to protect her anonymity. I'll just say that for various reasons related to her employment, she had reason to come across @MForstater 's case against CGD. 2/16
This woman had never heard of Maya (or "gender identity") until she came across the case and wondered why CGD was being sued. She read the court opinions in astonishment, did her research, and found me. 3/16

Several years ago, an old friend of mine posted something on FB about a horrific murder of a man (by a man) named Sara Blackwood in Indianapolis, Indiana. My friend said the murder was the fault of "JK Rowling and other feminists." 2/5
This friend and I had been going back and forth about sex and "gender identity" for a while, and I understood her stance on the matter ("TWAW," basically). But this was too much. 3/5
