Since 2008 I am a ladytron fan.
I decided to make this Thread so that everyone can know more about my favorite band!

Ladytron are an English electronic-music band from Liverpool. Formed in 1999, the group consists of Helen Marnie (lead vocals, synthesizers), Mira Aroyo (vocals, synthesizers), Daniel Hunt (synthesizers, guitar, vocals) and Reuben Wu (synthesizers).

Their name is taken from the song "Ladytron" by Roxy Music. According to Brian Eno, once a member of Roxy Music, Ladytron was "the best in British pop music"

They have released six studio albums: 604 (2001), Light & Magic (2002), Witching Hour (2005), Velocifero (2008), Gravity the Seducer(2011) and Ladytron (2019). They also issued the live album Live at London Astoria 16.07.08 in 2009 and one compilation album: Best of 00–10 in 2011

There are four kinds of Ladytron's songs: Marnie sings (sometimes backed by Aroyo), Aroyo sings (sometimes backed by Marnie and sometimes contains lyrics written in her native Bulgarian), duets (Marnie and Aroyo or Marnie and Daniel) and instrumental music.

When Ladytron perform live, Helen usually plays lead synth lines , Mira plays sound effects, synth lines and basslines, Reuben plays basslines, Daniel plays guitar and pad sounds, their tour drummer and bassist plays drums and bass, respectively.

Liverpudlian producers and DJs Daniel Hunt and Reuben Wu met in the 1990s.

Using a moniker inspired by the song "Ladytron" by Roxy Music, Hunt and Wu recorded the debut single "He Took Her to a Movie" for £50 with the guest vocalist Lisa Eriksson and released it in July 1999.

Hunt was a member of the bands Venini and Jules Verne and also founded the indie record label Invicta Hi-Fi and a nightclub. Wu trained in Industrial Design at Sheffield University and graduated in 1997.He became an industrial designer, until going full-time with the band in 2002

In the summer of 1999, Hunt and Wu met the Scottish student Helen Marnie through various DJ gigs, and the Bulgarian student Mira Aroyo through a mutual friend. Marnie and Aroyo joined the band as vocalists and keyboardists.

Helen Marnie studied music at the University of Liverpool where she received a Bachelor of Arts in pop music in 1999. Mira Aroyo was a postgraduate research geneticist in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford.

On February 6, 2001, Ladytron released the critically acclaimed debut album "604".
"Ladytron's musical interests stretch back before MTV, to 70s Bowie, Roxy Music, Kraftwerk and Cluster. They're like an unabridged Encyclopedia of musical Eurotrash with a sharp pop sensibility."

604's top 3 hits are: Playgirl, Discotraxx and He Took Her to a Movie.
Also in 2001, Ladytron covered The Human League's song "Open Your Heart" for the compilation Reproductions: Songs of The Human League

Until 2004, the band wore uniforms on stage. Daniel Hunter stated in 2001 that their uniforms were inspired by the science fiction movie "Andromeda Strain". In an interview in 2002, Hunter also stated that the name of the 604 album means the area code of British Columbia.

Their second album Light & Magic was released on 17 September 2002.
Light & Magic featured a darker sound than their previous album.

They toured over a year to support the album.

Light & Magic's top 3 hits are: Seventeen, Blue Jeans and Evil.

In 2003, they issued the mix compilation Softcore Jukebox on Emperor Norton, and made a cover of "Oops Oh My" by Tweet. In 2004, they played a series of shows in China as part of an exhibition tour set up by the British Council.

On October 3, 2005, Ladytron released their third studio album Witching Hour. The special feature of this album is that live drums and guitars mix their signature sounds. The album was well received by critics and fans.

Witching Hour’s hits are literally every track, this album is a masterpiece!!!

In 2006, they also released "Extended Play", which included a 35-minute bonus DVD, including a 27-minute documentary titled "Once Upon a Time in the East: Ladytron in China" based on their short 2004 tour in China.

Without any real label support, Ladytron toured exhaustively over the next two years, on the strength of their cult following. They performed in North America, Europe and South America. In early 2007, at the request of Trent Reznor, they also opened for nine-inch nails.

On June 2, 2008, the band released their fourth album Velocifero on Nettwerk.
Their sound evolved to an even more organic sound and harsher beats. The band states that "velocifero" literally means "bringer of speed"

Velocifero’s top 3 hits are: Ghosts, Runaway and Tomorrow.

In mid 2008, the group composed three exclusive tracks performed in Simlish for The Sims 3 game soundtrack: "Rockfalls & Estuaries", "She Stepped Out of the Car" and "Young Etruscians". Ladytron sang a song titled "Use Your Mind" on Nickelodeon's Yo Gabba Gabba!.

In 2009, ladytron released the album "Live at London Astoria 16.07.08". They also co-wrote and produced the songs "Birds of Prey" and "Little Dreamer" for Christina Aguilera. These songs were included in her 2010 album Bionic.

FIFA 11 featured a hitherto unreleased ladytron song, Ace Of HZ

On March 28, 2011, Ladytron released the 00-10 best compilation on Nettwerk. It has 17 tracks in the standard edition and 33 tracks in the deluxe edition (plus an 80-page booklet)

On September 12, 2011, they released their fifth studio album "Gravity the Seducer" on Nettwerk. According to Daniel, "The seducer's gravity is more leaping than the previous album, more elegant and melody..."

In 2018 the band announced that the new album would be titled "Ladytron" and released on 15 February 2019 through their own Ladytron Music imprint via !K7.

Helen Marnie started her personal career in 2012 using the stage name Marnie. She released her first solo album "Crystal World" on June 11, 2013. The album was produced in 2012 by her band partner Daniel Hunt in Reykjavik, Iceland

In 2 June 2017, she released her second solo album, Strange Words and Weird Wars.

Marnie’s hits are: The Hunter, Submariner, Hearts on fire, Gold, Wolves, Lost Maps, Heartbreak Kid, Electric Youth

In addition to always posting photos with her pets, she has become a veganist

Daniel Hunt worked on several movie scores, including that of Would You Rather starring Sasha Grey. Hunt also produced Marnie's album, Crystal World. He started the band Tamoio in 2014, In 2016 he produced the EP Lva Vermelha, by Lia Paris.

Mira Aroyo collaborated with John Foxx and the Maths and The Projects. She also worked for some documentaries, including "History 101", available from netflix. She's a pescetarian.

Reuben Wu is an amazing photographer, the best!!
His work is unique, he has already made commissions for Volkswagen, Ford, Apple, Bentley, Audi, Samsung, Land Rover, GE, Google, among others

All band members are also involved in various side projects. Besides touring, each member plays DJ sets (solo and with other band members) in clubs and events around the world.

They have produced remixes for: David Gahan, Erasure, Goldfrapp, Apoptygma Berzerk, Placebo, Blondie, Gang of Four, Christina Aguilera, Nine Inch Nails, Bloc Party, Kings of Convenience, Soulwax, Róisín Murphy...

Bands to open for Ladytron on their tours include: Franz Ferdinand, CSS, SONOIO, Client, Simian, The Presets

During the early part of the Witching Hour tour, the band used to name their four Korg MS-2000B synths to easily differentiate them: Cleopatra (Marnie), Babylon (Aroyo), Ulysses (Hunt), and Gloria (Wu). A staple of all Ladytron shows is Korg MS-20 played by Mira Aroyo.
