Is Miamitech a fad? Here are the top 10 reasons why #MiamiTech is HERE TO STAY.

Quick note: I will make this into a tweet series because Miami has so many different things to offer that makes it an amazing place to live and work in.

Here are the reasons why Miamitech is in it for the long term:

1. Miami is a great city. It doesn’t matter if you’re single or in your twenties, or if you’re a PhD with a family of four, it’s an amazing place to live.

Just the outdoors, the weather, the hospitality, the beaches, the proximity to the Caribbean, to Europe… There's a huge number of reasons why living in Southern FL is a WIN.

2. This is a BIG one. The government is providing not just incentives but a whole environment that’s business-friendly.
In California or New York, the state just makes it so hard to operate with high taxes and labor laws that don’t incentivize the employer.

All of this just makes it very hard to expand and grow your business. Mayor @FrancisSuarez and many others have just been adamant in their efforts and vision to make this town a business-friendly city, welcoming businesses from all around.

3. Real estate
With this emerging tech culture adding to the already rich culture of Miami and as a result of companies, startups, VC’s and founders alike moving here, migration to Miami has seen its numbers triple since last year, making it the top destination in the US.

Maybe Miami is on the upswing, housing prices can be high but compared to New York or California you’ll find the prices in Miami a lot more reasonable. Also, the cost of living here is lower than the national average, which makes a real difference for anyone living here.

Office space. There is a lot of office space in downtown Miami - from Brickell to Coconut grove - there’s a lot of room for expansion, just a ton of available infrastructure. And with all this business flowing in, the competition for prime Miami office space has grown “fierce”

5. Talent
Miami may not wow you with engineering talent just yet - but regarding sales, finance, marketing - you’ll be surprised by both the quality and price of talent. With Miami Hack Week, held from August 3-10, came hundreds of quality engineers.

The Bitcoin 2021 crypto conference (June 4-5.) also attracted thousands of crypto fans. All of this points to a growing interest from members of various markets and communities, and I believe it can only spread like wildfire!

6. Latin America - Makes for 10% of the global population and is one of the biggest economies in the world. In the next 10-20 years, we’re gonna see huge expansion in their GDP. When you look at the GDP (over 5 trillion USD in 2019) - it’s nearly triple the size

of other GDPs across the world and it’s just projected to grow. Latin American investors have a history of investing in real estate here and Brickell Avenue has the most international banks in the same area, making it extremely suitable for a fintech ecosystem.

#Miamitech is constantly reinforcing that bridge from Latin America to the rest of the US. 💪

7. People’s attitude
Business opportunities are great but if you’re gonna live and work here you have to know that you’ll be able to expand your network with ease. It’s friendly, it’s open - everyone’s looking to connect and make friends.

Immigrants here are building a community and that is embedded in the culture of Miami. That makes it immensely easy for anyone to build a life here and expand connections and networks.

8. Art
Art Basel Miami Beach - one of the biggest art shows and its beautiful architecture - all here in Miami. In the Wynwood Arts District, there’s amazing art from emerging artists all around and the outdoor museum Wynwood Walls is just beautiful.

Art lovers and those who wonder about architecture can view the Art Deco District, the Art Deco Museum, science and history buffs can check out Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami…

There’s so much to see in Miami that it would take a much longer thread to even scratch the surface of it all, and even then I wouldn’t be able to do it justice. You’ll just have to come see it for yourself.

9. Culture
Miami is just a mixed pot of beautifully intertwined different cultures, from Cuba, to Haiti and other parts of Latin America and the Caribbean, it just has a rich culture of its own. With all that cultural diversity comes diverse food, art and music...

...in a thriving community of different people, just making this city so vibrant and colorful. It’s just a unique atmosphere and vibe that you get when you’re in Miami.

10. Music
Whether you wanna go out to a club, because the nightlife is amazing, or if you just admire the diversity of different cultures and their music here, it’s absolutely worth it. @DavidGrutman has been doing an amazing job with his clubs and restaurants here in Miami.

Ultra is here too, one of the biggest music festivals in the world. So there’s just about any type of music content here for everyone, whatever your preference may be.

This thread was as short as I could make it, it’s really difficult to do it all justice with everything happening in Miami. We're in the midst of an extremely exciting time for the city.
