Thread - Supreme Court Judgement in the case between David Fornah and Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella.
I give praise to the Almighty for his grace in making sure that my personal quest to open up the political space for Sierra Leoneans in general, & our citizens in the diaspora, has received a resounding endorsement by the Supreme Court judges of the Republic. 2/7
I commend Justice Nicholas Colin Browne-Marke, Justice Emmanuel Ekundayo Roberts, Justice Glenna Thompson, Justice Alusine Sesay and Justice Sengu Koroma for their courage & vision. 3/7
Today's landmark judgment by our highest court will benefit over a quarter million Sierra Leoneans living in the diaspora and their descendants. 4/7
As I have stated before, though the judiciary does not make laws, the judgement by the Supreme Court constitutes a law which parliament can now reinforce & complement - 5/7
by passing the omnibus bill we submitted to guarantee greater inclusivity & equity for women & youth in national suferage and governance. 6/7
I call on the government of @PresidentBio & @NECsalone in particular, to ensure diaspora voting also becomes a reality in 2022 and 2023. Leh we put Salone Fors. 7/7
I wish to thank my legal team for their professionalism and efficacy in presenting our case. Deep gratitude to our many legal friends who weighed in on the side of justice. To all my family, friends and well-wishers, thanks to you for believing in me and standing by me.

I welcome the announcement by @MinisterManty - Minister of Gender and Children's Affairs of @PresidentBio’s Cabinet approval of the 'Gender Empowerment Bill’. #SierraLeone
According to the announcement, the building blocks of the proposed Bill include an affirmative action clause that guarantees 30% women's representation in parliament and access to finance for women. #GenderEmpowermentBill2021
These provisions are consistent with the @NGCSierraleone’s progressive agenda. Our party will support them. I look forward to seeing the Bill and working with the government and colleagues in parliament to ensure its speedy passage. #SierraLeone#OpenthePoliticalSpace
