When Mingjue was 8 and Huaisang was 4, their small family of 3 welcome a new member. Yu Ziyuan (or Mama Yu) was a tall, elegant woman with striking features. She was competent, smart, tough but fair and treated the boys like they were her own sons. What made both boys adore her
though, was the fact that she was able to make their papa laugh & smile. Ever since the wedding - a big, grand affair where Mingjue was made ring-bearer and Huaisang a flower boy (a job the 4 year old took on with glee), the Nie household got brighter. With Mama Yu's help,
Papa's workload had decreased - giving him more time to spend bonding with Mingjue and A-sang. Something both children had been incredibly pleased about. While Papa taught Mingjue martial arts, Mama Yu bonded with A-sang over painting and reading. On occasion, Mama Yu's daughter
from her old marriage would also come to visit. A-Li was a sweet girl - only one year younger than Mingjue. Mama Yu wanted A-Li to stay with them forever, but A-Li's father had 'joint-custody' so they were only able to see her once in awhile.
It was 4 months after the wedding - close to 5 when Papa and Mama Yu gathered Mingjue and Huisang in the living room for an important announcement.

wrapped present. Mingjue eyed the box and his parents with a curious look while Huisang wasted no time in shaking the box; trying to guess what's inside. Smiling at the little boy's antics, Ziyuan gestured towards the present.
"Open it." she encouraged, slipping her hand

into Zhengyong's in an uncharacteristically nervous gesture. Zhengyong squeezed his wife's hand slightly in reassurance as the duo watched their boys unbox their gift - Mingjue with surprising care and Huaisang just going for it - tearing the wrapping in his excitement. In the
box, there were matching dark-green t-shirts with gold lettering.
"Big Brother." Mingjue read out loud - his expression one of confusion.

Mingjue gasped, turning to look at his parents with wide eyes. Zhengyong laughed and nodded his head, amused at his sons' reactions.
"A-jue, A-sang, you're both going to be big brothers." he confirmed as Ziyuan smiled; the expression lighting up her face as Huaisang gave an

Ziyuan nodded and watched as Mingjue jumped from the couch with a whoop; picking up Huaisang and spinning him around - making the younger boy shriek and giggle some more.
"We're gonna have a new baby brother, A-sang!"

Months after the announcement, both Nie brothers seemed to have become even more attached to their Mama Yu. They would help her around the house, bring her water and got over protective of her. Ziyuan found it rather amusing - especially when A-sang blocked Zhengyong from
hugging her 'too hard' because he was afraid that his papa was going to 'squish the baby' - "...like a grape!" the almost 5 year old said gravely - hands splayed out as he gave his pputing papa the 'stink eye'.

from where he sat at on the sofa; giving his papa an impressively judgemental look for an almost 9 year old. At 9 months pregnant, Mama Yu's tummy was so big she couldn't even see her feet! The baby could come any day now and they didn't want papa to accidentally squeeze the baby
out of mama! Not before the baby was good and ready!
"A-sang and A-jue are so mean to papa." Zhengyong pouted, the expression looking rather ridiculous on his handsome face - especially with the new moustache he was 'trying out'. Both A-sang and Ziyuan couldn't help but giggle

at Zhengyong's silliness. Suddenly, a jolt of pain shot through Ziyuan - morphing her giggles into grunts of surprise and discomfort; her hand immediately going to her belly.

she had thought nothing of it. When she was pregnant with A-Li, she'd experience numerous 'false alarms' and thus assumed that it was just that. After all, her baby wasn't due for another week! But with another jolt of pain, she could feel a familiar wetness start to drip down
thighs and gasped.
"Mama?! Are you ok?!" Mingjue asked worriedly as both he and Huaisang hovered, not knowing what to do. Zhengyong had reached out to support his wife, having not noticed anything amiss.
"Boys... Looks like your papa really did squeeze the baby out of me."

happened. Zhengyong seemed to blank out for a moment before he finally registered what his wife said - expression morphing into one of panic as he carefully lead his wife towards the door. Hospital! They needed to go to the hospital!
"A-sang! Go get papa's keys!" he cried out as

the (currently) youngest Nie ran off to do as told. Ziyuan wanted to go get cleaned up first before heading to the hospital but Zhengyong, Mingjue and even Huaisang wouldn't hear of it! After much struggle, the little family made it to the hospital and after another 8 and a
half hours, they welcomed Baby Nie Cheng at 2.33 am, weighing 3.24 kgs into the Nie family.
