Alright so I just got off the phone with my immediate family to tell them about the big news I have. When I said I was working on a project, I wasn’t entirely truthful! But I really hope I have your support through it because it’s extremely impactful for me 🧵
I was born with a pretty severe hormone imbalance that caused some pretty harsh and irreversible changes during puberty. It’s been a struggle sometimes to live with, even though most people don’t even see it
I’ve been pretty resistant to medical intervention for most of my life. A big part of that was worry about the associated costs. But I also worried about the risks involved and what I may lose in terms of relationships and with society at large
Over the past few months I’ve made a decision to finally pursue treatment and I’ve begun letting my close friends know of the risks involved and how things will change for me. It’s been quite a process, but I’m determined to do what’s best for me!
As a consequence I want to let everyone know that elementary will no longer have a male CEO. I’m confident that this change will help us continue to make a positive impact and further our mission of inclusivity
Anyways, how old is too old for a gender reveal party? I’m asking for me. It’s my gender. I’m revealing it. I’m trans 🏳️⚧️ I’m a lady. And also gay. That’s not a gender but it felt relevant
So yeah, hello world. Thanks for listening to my story. I have reached my final form of gay trans atheist commie. Tada
I hope this framing resonated with other trans people and maybe gave a different perspective to cis people and also made you laugh :)
The fucking torrents of support here are overwhelming and amazing. Thank you so much!

I think some Linux users get frustrated because they’re very attached to this idea of a software distribution and they don’t want to accept the App Store model that mainstream operating systems use: 🧵
Traditionally a Linux distribution exists to package and distribute third-party software. Distribution maintainers aren’t typically the same people writing the software they distribute. They are software publishers as opposed to authors
like other publishers, they editorialize and market on behalf of authors. They make changes in the form of distro patches and do integration and QA work so that they can publish this software as part of a larger repository. These published apps are part of a Linux distribution
