It appears that the APD has moved their Dispatch channels to encrypted tac channels. Is this a test? Or is APD cutting off all transparency to Media & Public?
If the Albuquerque Police Department shows the Community that we can’t trust them? It will be a sad day in Albuquerque. There has never been a proof that citizens listening into police dispatch channels has ever increased the risk to officer’s or crime scenes.
However, the risk of locking out the public may have a devastating effect on officers & public and the total end of any type of Community policing. A few months ago is my conversation with the City Council, Mayor’s office:
