Thinking of Homeschooling?

Here Are 4 Major Benefits To Homeschooling.

//THREAD//
1. FREEDOM

This is a big one for us & I’m sure that’s the case for many families.

We have more freedom than most.

We are free to start and end the day when we choose.

We are free to fit in whatever errands may arise.

We are free to vacation whenever we please.
As an added benefit, these vacations are usually much cheaper and the locations much quieter.

Because my wife & I chose to homeschool our kids, my family was able to travel to Canada for 6 months.

It was one of the greatest experiences of our lives.
We went to Banff National Park, saw a young grizzly bear, and went to the Calgary Stampede.

My kids were immersed in a different culture, a different life (city life) and fundamentally changed for the better from this experience.
Not only are we free in the physical sense, but we are also mentally free.

We can teach what we want, when we want to teach it.

We can handle fundamentally important topics, such as sex, in whichever way we choose.

We can avoid dangerous ideologies like CRT.
We can take breaks when we need to.

My kids are also free to eat, drink and use the bathroom at whatever time suits them.
2. LESS STRESS

With more freedom comes less stress.

My kids aren’t subjected to the same stresses as public school kids.
They have no standardised testing.

They have no “homework” – the irony of the term is not lost on me.

They have no peer pressure.

They have no bullies.

They have no rushed mornings.
This also means that my wife and I have no:

- rushed mornings.

- “keeping up” with other parents.

- worry about grades.

- sorting lunches and clothes the evening before.

- other school stresses, such as meetings & activities.
3. FAMILY BOND

My family has a shared mission: To homeschool.

This mission brings us all closer together as we work towards it.

We also spend a great deal more time together than public school families.

This bond extends across all relationships.
My kids are closer to each other.

They are the best of friends.

Do they fight? Of course. They are brother and sister. That’s like asking if a lion bites.

But their bond is unbreakable, as family bonds should be.
My kids are closer to my wife and I.

My wife and I are closer.

Because we share the same goals and work together.

My wife & I get to watch our kids grow up, learn, help each other.
My kids get to do these things together, share all these experiences.

I get to watch and listen to my wife teaching them – which fills me love every time.

It’s also pretty sexy, witnessing my wife take care of our kids, nurture their minds, fulfil our mission.
4. LOVE OF LEARNING

The view on learning is totally different between homeschool kids and public school kids.

They grow up viewing “learning” as a fundamental part of growth.

Not a competition.

Not a memory game.

Not a chore.
An enjoyable part of life, that fulfils them mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

Kids are naturally curious and have a thirst for knowledge, so we aim to foster that.
If the kids are particularly interested in something, we learn about it.

It won’t come as a shock that learning is far more fun when you’re learning about something you’re interested in.
Kids learn everywhere they go and in everything they do.

We just squash it out of them by telling them that learning can only happen within these very specific four walls.
Ultimately, we aim to follow the mantra:

Life is Learning.

My kids are always excited to read, to learn new subjects and new skills.

That’s what homeschooling is all about.

Considering Homeschooling?

You Need to Read This.

3 Common Myths Dispelled.
My wife and I have been homeschooling our kids, Son:5 Daughter:7, for several years now.

It was scary at first.

Our daughter was in public school for a very short time.
I then got asked to work in Toronto for 6 months & so we went on a family adventure.

That’s when we started homeschooling.

With homeschool rates rising in the UK & US I thought I’d share some info to provide comfort to those considering this means of education for their kids.

An innocent moment turned into a serious father-son lesson.

I’ll never forget this for as long as I live.

Yesterday my family and I were returning from a friend's house we'd visited.

We had never been there before so I had the satnav/GPS on.

It kept 'pinging'.
The following conversation set me up for a defining Father-Son moment.

However, it could have easily been overlooked by a passive father.
