Women in Texas and across the nation are leading the fight to modernize our outdated abortion laws
Special shout out to the 11 pro-life women state legislators who co-authored The Heartbeat Act, Texas #SB8, protecting unborn babies with a beating heart 💓
Meet the women behind the Texas Heartbeat Act. They come from all walks of life, but they share a dedication to the people of Texas, particularly women and their unborn children:
2/13
State rep @ShelbySlawson authored the House version of the bill. She is an attorney and a first-generation college graduate. The Texas Heartbeat Act is just one of the measures she has championed to foster and protect her local community.
3/13
Rep. @StephanieKlick, who also authored a bill to protect TX women and their babies from chemical abortion, has almost 35 years of nursing experience and serves on the Texas Supreme Court's Children's Commission.
4/13
.@DrBuckinghamTX is a reconstructive surgeon and a graduate of the Texas A&M Fire School. She has served as a volunteer fire fighter, and as a state senator, she has advocated for improving public education as well as protecting life.
5/13
Dr. @DonnaCampbellTX is an ER doctor who has also shared her talents as a volunteer, performing hundreds of eye surgeries in Ghana. She serves on six Senate committees, including Health and Human Services.
6/13
Rep. @ValoreeSwanson is a homeschool mom who adopted two of her children. Before running for office, she volunteered during every election cycle for campaigns in her area. She is also active in her church as a Bible study and Sunday school leader.
7/13
Rep. @CandyNobleHD89 holds a degree in education and is strong proponent of quality public education. During her first year in the state house, she helped pass a law protecting Texan taxpayers from funding abortion facilities & their affiliates.
8/13

🧵This evening the Energy & Commerce Committee is marking up the $3.5 trillion dollar reconciliation bill that includes massive expansions for health funding that would force taxpayers to fund abortions
Thankfully, @HouseCommerce Republicans are fighting back:
1/
"Abortion is inhumane… My challenge is for us to be warriors of human dignity. I urge my colleagues to join me & save the Hyde Amendment."
@cathymcmorris shares how the Dem bill will force those buying the proposed plans to pay for coverage that includes abortion on demand.
2/
.@RepBuddyCarter offers a passionate defense of the Hyde Amendment which protects the lives of living human babies. He shares how abortion is a human rights abuse and should not be subsidized by taxpayers
🧵 Biden DOJ reportedly planning to sue Texas over its law protecting unborn babies with a beating heart, and is considering using federal facilities in Texas to commit abortions and potentially stripping the state of federal funding
The Texas Heartbeat Act is a democratic response to fifty years of Supreme Court interference in states’ legitimate interest in protecting life and their right to debate and pass laws reflecting their people’s values.
2/6
However Biden, Pelosi and their radical allies want to permanently stifle a debate that considers scientific breakthroughs made in the almost 50 years since Roe, and instead impose abortion on demand up until the moment of birth, paid for by taxpayers.
3/6
🧵Six years ago @daviddaleiden released his first video showing Planned Parenthood officials laughing as they shared how they make extra $$ by selling body parts of aborted babies.
But six years later, the trade in baby body parts continues 1/15
In 2019 alone, @NIH awarded $109 MILLION in taxpayer funds for extramural grants to 135 researchers at 68 academic orgs for experiments using fetal organs including eyes, brains, urinary tract tissue, intestines, hearts, gonads, livers, and thymuses from aborted babies 2/15
Those who support harvesting baby body parts for experiments claim the research shows lifesaving results. However this is a a fiction put forth to justify the grotesque practice. 3/15
In a partial-birth abortion the child is delivered into the birth canal up to its shoulders and then killed through vacuuming out its brain and crushing its skull.
Thank you @RepGusBilirakis for holding HHS Secretary Becerra - the top health official in the nation - accountable for upholding our nation's laws protecting the most vulnerable among us: unborn children
