🧵 on books following SNC guidelines approved by Punjab Curriculum and Textbook board:

I bought these books of Grade 1-5 to ascertain if the Punjab Govt approved textbooks are regressive and will they be detrimental to kids education?

(These 10 books cost me ~ 900 Rps)
In these textbooks, boys and girls are taught not to accept any gifts from strangers and never befriend them.

Hopefully, these lessons will help reduce crimes against children esp sexual crimes as predators entice kids for their criminal activities.
Lessons are added so kids can learn and respect the religious festivals of minorities in Pakistan.
Against prevalent propaganda about girls are ONLY shown as doing house chores or as mothers or housewives, women in these books are also shown as:

Pilots
Lawyers
Businesswomen
Nurse
Doctor
Sportswomen
Also, girls are shown:

•Playing football
•Competing with boys in sporting activities
•Helping their male family members in laborious works as women do in rural areas
•Enjoying rain

Like a normal person etc etc
In the social studies book of grade 4, kids will be taught about:

• Human Rights
• Diversity and Tolerance
•Different Cultures (Punjab books are teaching cultures of other provinces as well)
•Role of Minorities in the creation of Pakistan
My best part is in the Grade 3 book of -- Waakfiyat-e-Aama (General Knowledge) is how to resolve common disagreements, causes of disagreements, and resolving conflicts through discussion, dialogue, and problem-solving methods.
Regarding "all or majority" minor girls shown wearing a scarf/dupatta in textbooks.

Here are pictures from books where some are wearing scarves and some are not.
Yes minors don’t need to wear a hijab but there are those kids in our country too. Girls in rural areas wear scarf or dupattas due to cultural/religious norms.
I am from a village where minor girls wear dupattas or scarves as a cultural norm.

Refer to these pictures.
On religious content in English and Urdu books. Yes, the Punjab textbook board did add it but in my view it's neither controversial nor sectarian.

Check the first picture and read learning outcomes, they are not focusing on religious themes. This is from an English book.
In the General Knowledge book, the awareness lessons are need of the hour & related to current social and climate issues. I.e Water scarcity & deforestation issues.

This is from Grade-2 Book.
It's not that SNC is perfect, there are some flaws too but SNC is a good attempt and much-awaited and delayed start in the nation building.
Unfortunately, Govt, Federal Education Minister & highly qualified SNC director - Dr. Mariam Chughtai are targets of hate and propaganda despite they asked publicly for feedback and are committed to revising. And they never called it an experiment.
Feedback about SNC from someone who is running his own publication house, he listed challenges and issues in SNC. Also, he shared the context and why SNC is needed.

Some background on Ismail Khan:
Ismail Khan was an Army officer in the Afghan Army, stationed in Herat garrison, in early 1979 when Afghan President Taraki pushed for reforms and went after opposition, Afghans in rural areas revolted.
On 17th Mach 1979, the entire 17th division station in Herat mutinied, led by Capt Ismail Khan.

As the population killed Soviets officers, advisers, and their families, Ismail Khan staged a coup in the city garrison, killing Soviet and communist Afghan officers..
..and distributing arms to the people. Kabul regime and Moscow, fearing more uprisings in other Afghan cities, sent reinforcements and began to bomb one of the oldest cities in the world indiscriminately. They inflicted more damage on the city than even the Mongols has done.

Pashtuns in Pak outnumber Pashtuns in Afghanistan by at least 2.5 to 1. As per the 2017 census, there r more than 37 million Pakistanis whose mother tongue is Pashtu. Whereas Afghanistan has not more than 15 million Pashtun population.

The actual Pashtun population in Pakistan..
..is much higher due to centuries of Pashtun migrations to different parts of present-day Pakistan, where they settled & gradually stop using Pashto as their language, like the Sadozais of Multan or Kashmir, Kakazais of Lahore & Niazis of Mianwali.

Pakistani Pashtuns are..
living in all four provinces & AJK, completely amalgamated in the social fabric while participating and representing in all walks of life.

Karachi is home to the largest metropolitan Pashtun population in the world -- then in Kabul, Kandhar & Jalalabad combined.

In this thread I will share some facts to ascertain if PM criticism to Musharaf's and PPP Govts policy wrt WoT is valid or not?
PM IK in his NA speech mentioned that the US and West did not treat us like partners and never acknowledged Pak's sacrifices in WoT instead kept demanding "Do more". PM also criticized some of the policies of Gen Musharaf and PPP Govts.
Before I start, its important to mention that Musharaf tried to persuade Taliban to either handover OBL or banish him from AFG, Mullah Omer refused to do both despite Pak's DG-ISI meeting him personally 3-4 times before the US invasion trying to convince him to let go OBL.

Pak not once elected Mullahs to power. Whereas India despite being a secular state, ruled by the(so-called)secular party for over 50-years is a Hindu Rashtra.
India's forefathers used secularism as a tool to subjugate others, Jinnah called their bluff & proven right time & again.
Congress&BJP both adhere to "Secularism" but both use it as a tool to keep Muslim,non-muslim and scheduled casts subjugated.

BJP membership form requires the taking of a pledge that contains the line: "I subscribe to the concept of secular state & nation not based on religion."
It's just that BJP is more vocal about 'Hindu Rashtra' than congress. During Congress tenured, there were scores of state-sponsored pogroms not only against Muslims but also against Sikhs killing thousands.

NCOC did very well in taking decisions on lockdowns based on data.

NCOC ensured the availability of healthcare resources, additional oxygen capacity along with its improved supply are ensured, hence we didnt see the same desperate situation in our hospitals as we saw in India. ImageImage
Also vaccination drive has been ramped up and it's hassle-free. There isn't a case where people are returned due to the unavailability of vaccine. This is also managed by NCOC.

It's been 15 months to the pandemic, not 24, however an underdeveloped..
..country like Pakistan with the fledging economy still managed to save the SMEs as at the start of the pandemic, Govt gave a stimulus package of more than 1.2 trillion to save small businesses, introduced concessionary bank loans to SMEs under the TERF scheme.

Sarmad's abduction story was peddled by SAATH members, HR activists like Ammar Ali Jan, Amnesty Asia jumped in, PTM and PMLN social media started SM campaign.

Maryam, Ahsan Iqbal & journos jumped in. Asad Ali Toor blamed agencies & likened the situation worse than IoK.
If FIA opens the cases against Asad Ali Toor and all those that ran malicious campaigns against Govt and Army, what will these intellectuals and HR activists say?

There is no freedom of speech, we can't cR|tiCiz3 the "powers that be" fascist state etc etc.
Just to share how strong their campaign was:

#BringBackSarmadSultan was the top trend, Amnesty Asia from it's verified account tweeted about it (not surprising when ppl like Ammar Ali Jan r involved), articles are written in int publications such as BBC & Independent Urdu
