1. Had a call from @leicspolice yesterday re the riot shield. Where to start? So, our complaint was recorded as a Non Crime Hate Incident (NCHI) on the basis that I perceived the shield as hateful. So far so good.
2. However, the NCHI was not recorded against an officer’s name… which is in contrast to the standard practice of labelling a person as ‘suspect’ & ruining their job prospects for the next 6 years. Convenient.
3. The reason for this is as follows: the police judge their own actions to be pure and hate free. Political colours on a riot shield are an act of solidarity and support - not an act of antagonism and hostility. So they are free to continue with the deployment.
4. What about the requirement to prevent escalation, which is the entire purpose of recording NCHIs in the first place? Ah, well that doesn’t count in this case because they are the police and escalation would just be yet more love for the Pride community. Who can object to love?
4. Oh… And a political riot shield is not a tactical defensive weapon when carried by the police. However, should I carry a riot shield through the streets of Leicester with a political slogan on it… Then it becomes a weapon.
5. The difference is, they know my motivation would be hateful as I was argumentative on the phone. My attitude transforms the riot shield into a weapon and they cannot allow haters with political weaponry to roam the streets of Leicester.
6. This week, I bought some second hand riot shields. Watch this space. @threadreaderapp unroll.

At a webinar about hate crime in Scotland! Now listening to a 'tactical hate crime adviser' from Glasgow who is talking about role of police Scotland.
Interestingly and worrying, they are going to talk about impact of hate crime on CHILDREN. And urge all questions to be 'respectful'. This is an emotive topic which you may find upsetting.
Learning objectives - for attendees to define a hate crime, to name the protected characteristics and identify different types of crime that can be motivated by prejudice and guide you through the hate crime form.

As @MerseyPolice are warning us not to be transphobic whilst refusing to tell us what transphobia is, it falls on us to provide the working definition, kindly offered by @stonewalluk
Note: if you deny the existence of ‘gender identity’, you automatically fall foul of @MerseyPolice. If you consider sex to be binary then you automatically fall foul of the police.
What’s more, if you say nice things about Dame Jenni Murray or JK Rowling you are in danger of being recorded as a transphobe by @MerseyPolice.

Truly excellent report from Essex University, confirming and apologising for its failures to uphold freedom of speech on campus. Thanks @CultSwat

Allegation 1 @NYorksPolice - Your officers have tweeted support of the exclusion of Gender Critical women, contrary to Para 9 Schedule 2 Reg 5 of the Police Conduct Regs 2020 (Discreditable Conduct)
Allegation 2 - In so tweeting, your officers are in breach of Para 2 Schedule 2 Reg 5 of the Police Conduct Regs 2020 in that this fails to show respect and courtesy to those members of the public who hold gender critical views.

@threadreaderapp unroll
Allegation 3 - Failure to immediately remove this tweet will amount to a breach of Para 10 Schedule 2 Reg 5 of the Police Conduct Regs 2020, in that you are required to take action against officers failing to uphold the required standards of professional behaviour.

Let’s remind ourselves of the Derbyshire policing threats, which I assume are pretty typical for most forces.

Odd isn’t it. ‘Someone was mean to me because they mistakenly thought I was disabled’ doesn’t make the Top Ten.
Let's have a look at some of the statistics for actual disabled people, rather than people who are mistakenly identified as disabled.
The unemployment rate for disabled people was 8.4% in the latest quarter, compared to 4.6% for those without disabilities.
42.6% of those with disabilities were economically inactive in the latest quarter, compared to 15.3% of those without disabilities.

Asked @DerbysPolice for their definition of ‘woman’ and been sent a link to this. Don’t think it will answer my question. But it’s interesting nonetheless. What are the Top Ten threats they face?

Odd isn’t it. ‘Gender hate’ doesn’t feature.

derbyshire.police.uk/SysSiteAssets/…
this is how the Top Threats are going to be tackled. ‘Preventing, fighting and investigating crime’ is surely all you need and should be number 1?
And this is just weird. Of course the police mustn’t be rude or unkind. But they aren’t therapists or counsellors.
