"I'm off to complete my sci-fi story. Merry Xmas, Fuad!" said my friend to me on Facebook chat on 24th Deember 2016.
Later that day, he took his own life.
Many of us have been touched by suicide and the loss of a loved one, family member or friend.
It’s estimated that nearly 15% of the adult population will experience depression at one point or another throughout life.
And, accordingly to the World Health Organization, that means there are currently over 300 million people in the world currently living with depression
There are a lot of factors alongside and including depression and mental health issues that influence a person’s decision to go through with suicide: chronic ill health, guilt, trauma, substance abuse or loss, for example.
The tragic thing is that most of those who consider suicide don’t really want to die...These people just don’t know how to deal with the pain they’re experiencing.
If you’ve ever been suicidal or know somebody that has, you’ll know that without help, escaping that feeling of wanting to end it all is difficult.
If you’re having difficulty opening up to others about your problems, sometimes inspirational words or advice can offer some psychological comfort and help to get you through the day.
Yes, inspirational words can’t take the pain away, but they may allow someone the chance to shift their perspective just enough to give them a little bit of hope and strength.
If you’re looking for a sign not to kill yourself, this is it.
The person who completes suicide, dies once. Those left behind die a thousand deaths, trying to relive those terrible moments and understand…why?
You have the power to say, “This is not how my story will end.”
When you feel like giving up, just remember the reason why you held on for so long.
As tough it sounds, suicide doesn’t end the chances of life getting worse, it just eliminates the possibility of it ever getting any better.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is not thinking, not wondering, not imagining, not obsessing and just breathing. Have faith that everything will work out for the best.
Like my Dad used to say, "every flower must grow through dirt."

And even better news.
Lung cancer patients in England will become the first in Europe to benefit from a “revolutionary” new drug that can halt the growth of tumours by targeting the so-called “Death Star” mutation.
The medication, Sotorasib, will be fast-tracked to NHS patients
And more promising news.
An early stage clinical trial of an mRNA-based HIV vaccine could begin this month.
This vaccine candidate uses technology developed by biotech company Moderna.
Two dead seals were found on the shores of Mardakan in Azerbaijan.
Both animals died after swallowing fish hooks and caught in fishing lines.
The Caspian seal is endemic to the Caspian Sea and its population has decreased by more than 90% since the start of the 20th century.
In recent years, large numbers of Caspian seals are reported to become tangled in illegal sturgeon-fishing nets.
Last year, at least 272 dead Caspian seals have been found in December at a number of locations in the North Caucasus region of Daghestan, Russia.
The Caspian seal is the only mammal living in the Caspian Sea, the world's largest inland body of water.
Pollution from hydrocarbon extraction and declining water levels are posing a threat to many local species and putting the future of the sea itself at risk.

Street art benefit urban environments by creating a safer community, generating relationships between residents and businesses, and increasing economic revenue.
Murals, while beautiful, not only brightens your day, but also are an integral part of creating a safer community.
Backed by the “broken window theory,” order and beauty motivates more people to act responsibly in the community, seeing that it is already established.
Without street art, a sense that environments are already disturbed and therefore can continue to be abused.
If the environment is cared for, drug use, crime, robbery, and vandalism decline statistically. When one window breaks, disorder can erupt. #brokenwindowtheory
