On September 8th, 5 days before the California Recall Election, seven of the Grassroots Democrats HQ board and staff members were banned from Facebook-- with no warning or recourse.

The official Grassroots Democrats HQ Facebook page was also removed.

.@meligrant, @BrianColker, @LevensonTamara, @manashooshtari, @davisahan, @eve_levenson, @resistnow16, and the HQ Facebook page were silenced by a coordinated cyber attack 6 days before the Recall.

All 7 of us lost the ability to connect with our friends and family, which is important to us.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. While the Grassroots Democrats HQ was likely the first organization to be targeted, we weren't alone. Dozens of Los Angeles based Democratic activists and organizers also had their personal accounts disabled.

Thanks to the work of Democratic leaders throughout the state and @Facebook staff, all seven of us had our accounts and the Grassroots Democrats HQ Facebook page restored this morning.

Five days before a hotly contested election, Republicans are orchestrating cheap tricks to remove one of our most effective organizing and fundraising tools.

This stunt shows that Republicans will stop at nothing to try and win this baseless power grab. Now our work is even tougher because they tried to take away one of our most powerful organizing tools.

By disabling our accounts, Republicans forced us to redirect our time and energy to resolve this issue instead of organizing to #StopTheRecall.
