Everyone was happy around me (Parents/Friends) when I get my first job.
I get a chance to work on MainFrames (aka COBOL/CICS)
I continued because I preassume that I don't have much choice, without ever asking myself if it made me happy?
Don't accept If you don't feel good.
I used to smoke/drink or party every weekend.
I felt this is it, This is the best life I wanted
Again I assume.
The biggest mistake of all time.
Don't fall into this trap, Higher chances this is being sold to you asap when you enter college/first job.
Think Before you go.
I never read books Just thinking 9-5 is the best life.
I was just busy in 9-5 & thinking I don't have time to read books anymore.
I didn't understand until I met my mentor what I could learn from those books.
Books are your real friends.
Find your best buddy(BOOK) today.
I consider money was the root cause of all problems.
And once I have money, I no longer face any problems.
WHY because the real problem is our upbringing & surroundings,
Everyone around you ask:
- WHAT IS THE PAY IN NEW JOB
Only Few ask:
- ARE YOU HAPPY TO MAKE THIS CHANGE
- I eat shit
- Slept odd hours
- No Exercise
- Never think about health
- Failing to brush up on your skills
- Giving up networking once you have a job
Remember:
An excuse is a distance between who you are and who you wish to be.
I took Personal loans, Not because I didn't have money
Just to show off that I have a new Bike And I kept telling myself, "I will get a raise next year. And that's why it is ok." (BAD MOVE)
If you do not have the money to pay for something right now, you DO NOT have the money.
I assumed if you work hard, really hard, you will eventually win.
Hard work matters.
But You should know what is important & Need to be smart enough to question Yourself.
The difference between a donkey and a human is Smart work.
I assumed work is enough & will speak for myself.
Do well, My manager will give me what I deserved.
I get fooled for 3 years in a row for my so-called H1-B trap in tech companies.
I never asked. Don't be me, Ask what you deserved.
If you don't ask, the answer is always no.
Not negotiating my salary and benefits:
Many job seekers don’t negotiate salary or benefits because they’re fearful of rejection.
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want.
You need to become comfortable selling yourself.
Since last year I speak to many college kids very often and I tell them:
"Mistakes are good if you can learn from them."
The one mistake that I hope you will avoid as a young person (or at any age) is to burn a bridge.
Hope you get some real-life learning from my mistakes.
I'm writing threads to help you to become a better software developer.

- Why is learning JavaScript so hard?
- How long did it take you to learn JavaScript?
- Why is JavaScript so popular?
- What is the best way to practice Javascript?
Let's deconstruct this ⬇
A Thread...
In my learning journey,
I realize that a majority of resources available for learning JavaScript - books, PDF, courses, are not learner-friendly.
I felt that the tutor was in a hurry to get to the end of the course and was not educating the rationale behind the code.
The content quality of such tutorials is questionable.
Since JavaScript runs in IE, Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Brave, Safari, and a dozen other environments, great care must be taken when teaching & coding anything in JavaScript!
In this thread, I’m going to show you the e2e process
Along the way, I’m also going to discuss:
- How to learn to code in the first place
- What to learn after learning to code
- How to get your first coding job or internship
- Is it important to get a computer science degree?
It’s easy to lose motivation or get so frustrated you feel like throwing your computer against the wall, at the start of your journey but the truth is if you’re going to be successful at becoming a self-taught developer you need a solid game plan before you get started.
