Just tucked a short-sleeved button-up into a pair of chinos and realized that I'm going to have to be really careful about my fashion choices the more masculine my face and body get lest I look like a fucking Republican. 😬
LOOK AT THIS FUCKING ASSHOLE. 😱🤣😭 Corin in a dark blue, short-sleeved, button-down shirt tucke
I feel like my reflection would hate crime me. Wtf?!
Smiling fixes it... sort of? It puts me back on the correct side of the aisle, at least. But it also makes me look like I am running for city council.

What I have learned from testosterone virtually erasing my dysautonomia is that some of my most disruptive symptoms were dysautonomia related.

It's fucked up that folks don't take it seriously given that it's basically your body's autopilot malfunctioning...?
(And yeah I do think that the higher prevalence and severity of dysautonomia in AFAB ppl has a lot to do with the dismissive attitude.)
Wow so this tweet is fostering a lot of speculation re: treatments for POTS, etc... To be responsible about this, lemme just say that I have no fucking clue as to WHY testosterone has helped me or what this means for anyone else -- especially cis women.

I was going to tweet a joke about how my ideal relationship is Sam and Rosie going to live with Frodo at Bag End, and when I went looking for the specific passage in the book, I found that I'd dog eared that page about 20 years ago. A photo of an open book with the bottom of the page folded i
(I know it was that long ago because whenever I've revisited LOTR since then, I've listened to the audiobooks instead.)
It reads 'I see,' said Frodo: 'you want to get married, and yet you want to live with me in the Bag End too? But my dear Sam, how easy! Get married as soon as you can, and then move in with Rosie. There's room enough in Bag End for as big a family as you could wish for.'

It was suggested that I expedite my degree by switching my topic to disability in higher ed bc it's work I am already doing anyway.

A pal pointed out that having a dissertation's-worth of material w/o even trying just demonstrates how much extra work disabled scholars do!
It really is like doing a second degree except that the work will never be recognized. If anything, I get punished for doing it! Just advocating for myself and refusing to do emotional labour for ppl who do not have my best interests at heart has burned so many bridges.
I also cannot stress enough how much I do not want to write a dissertation about my experiences with disability in higher ed. But that's another thread for another time bc I don't have the emotional bandwidth to elaborate right now.

So the @Paralympics just stripped a shot putter of his gold medal for *checks notes* operating on crip time...?
And the real victim here is *double checks notes* the IPC...?
"Rules are rules," says committee that is apparently completely ignorant of the disability community's experiences of constantly hearing that phrase as justification for holding our bodyminds to nondisabled standards that persistently fail to take our needs into account.

Today in things my mother said about transitioning:

"So how are you feeling about being a metrosexual?"

🤔???
She MEANT "how are you feeling about the geographical constraints that transphobia and anti-trans politics place on your safety?"

But she SAID "metrosexual".

(Serious conversations with my mom are sometimes the funniest conversations.)
The conversation started with a message that read "What the fuck- men and power tools ... don't be like them!!!" (bc of a dude's catastrophic pruning job on a hedge that she had carefully tended for years)...

Trying to juggle needs and conditions and meds is srsly some Cirque de Soleil shit sometimes...
One unexpected benefit of starting testosterone is that my dysautonomia is much more manageable. In fact, the only condition that hasn't improved on T has been my ADHD (which has gone in the complete opposite direction) so I've been trying to find the right meds/doses.
Here's the thing: it turns out every ADHD med I've tried thus far has resulted in the return of dysautonomia symptoms as well as migraines. I guess I didn't notice these side effects previously bc they're basically just what my body was already doing on its own.
