Is College Worth the Cost? 1 Reason Why It Makes Sense to Get a College Degree

Tuition costs are skyrocketing. Student loans and the crushing debt can weigh heavily for decades.

If a college degree no longer means wealth or a good job, is a degree worth it?
1/ Years ago, this wasn't even a question. Prosperity was only paved through college (and often, it had to be the right college).

With the rise of the creator economy and the leverage of the internet, degrees are now not always necessary.
2/ If you are entrepreneurial, you no longer need to wait to get your start. Online classes and communities make success a possibility, sometimes overnight.

If you do go college, you are looking at years and big $$$ before you graduate and have permission to join the workforce.
3/ With the cost of a degree ranging from $100k+ for a 4-year in-state college to over $300k+ for an elite private school, when will the return on investment happen?

Does that piece of paper the college hand you really worth it?

In some cases, yes it is!
4/ Some jobs demand a degree.

Most grads look for a job in a specific field. Sometimes a degree is required in order to advance in the field:

• Nurse/Doctor
• Therapist
• Professional Engineers
• Teacher/administrator - public
• Grad School (undergrad degree required)
5/ There are many other jobs that require a degree, but, the internet and its infinite leverage changed the game.

No degree is necessary to program an app or be an IG influencer, right?
6/ Those that bypass college may still take years and lots of $$$ to become successful.

For those that never graduate, well, they only have loans, mixed memories, and a trail of tears to show for their time.
7/ But what would students miss out on if they didn't go to college?

The opportunity cost can't really be measured. Going to college allows:

A chance to grow up
A chance to make friends for life
A chance to make connections that could shape their future.
8/ While you can get a job and take on more responsibility, make friends at work, and use social media to make connections, it is just a bit different.

College often represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a scared kid who goes to college but comes back as an adult.

3 Writing Elements All Great College Applications Essays Have in Common & How To Include These In your Essays

Application essays are used to reveal yourself to the reader.

Without these 3 elements, the reader will struggle to understand who you are and why you belong.

🧵👇
Element #1 - The very best writing is specific.

Being specific gives details that allow the reader to understand the picture you are painting with words.
Element #2 - The very best writing is clear, not clever.

Being clear, and not clever, is rooted in not knowing who will eventually read your essay (not all readers will understand your humor or sly references).
