Twenty years ago today, I was at St. Leo’s Church in Corona serving as a poll worker during the primary elections when I learned that the first plane hit.

The confusion & panicked that ensued will forever be indelibly seared in my memory.

My partner worked in the area at the time and many of my NYU students were in dorms nearby.

Today continues to be a stain on our history. My heart goes out to the families of loved ones lost and for the continued fight for justice for the first responders.

I also continue the fight for immigrant justice and against Islamophobia as our Muslim, Arab & South Asian communities were vilified and scapegoated.

Let us never forget. Let us continue the struggle for equity, justice and liberation. #Sept11
